Bourbon Steak — A Michael Mina Restaurant
The short answer
Closed since a kitchen fire on 25 June 2026, with no reopening date announced. Open, it is the most expensive à la carte restaurant at Walt Disney World: sixteen mains averaged $87.50 on Disney's menu in September 2026, and eleven of the sixteen mains cost more than the $59.99 top of Disney's own price band.

Is it worth the money?
It is closed, and has been since 25 June 2026. A kitchen fire that day evacuated the restaurant. A Walt Disney World official said the damage was confined to the restaurant. The hotel's own page reads: "Please be advised that our Bourbon Steak restaurant is temporarily closed." Michael Mina's site says "Temporarily Closed — Reopening Soon!" Neither gives a date.
Disney's own systems disagree with both. On 11 September 2026 Disney's schedule service showed the restaurant closed through 2 October and operating from 3 October 2026. In July, WDW News Today found the booking system accepting reservations from 16 September — a date that has now passed with the restaurant still shut. A date appearing in a booking calendar is not an announcement. We will change this page when the hotel or Michael Mina's group gives one.
If you want a serious steakhouse and the budget is real, yes — this is the best version of that on Disney property, and it is not close. If you are choosing a nice dinner on your Disney trip, understand what you are walking into first.
What it costs, plainly. Sixteen mains averaging $87.50, sides extra at $15 to $18, appetisers to $47, desserts to $19. TouringPlans, reviewing on 5 September 2025, put the cheapest possible three courses at $71 and the most expensive — excluding caviar — at $271, before drinks and tip. We read the menu a year later and the cheapest three courses were $70. The floor has not moved; the ceiling is where the money goes.
A Disney dining plan credit is worth nothing here. Disney's own page: the Dolphin "does not participate in any of the Disney dining plans and does not accept MagicBands, Disney Gift Cards or any other Disney stored value cards." The Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve are Marriott-operated. Bring a card that is not a Disney card.
It is new, and that is part of the case for it. Bourbon Steak opened on 26 July 2025 in the former Shula's space. Michael Mina's group runs more than forty restaurants and holds Michelin stars; whatever else is true of the price, this is a kitchen operating at a level Disney property does not otherwise have.
It is loud. TouringPlans dined early and did not hit it, but noted OpenTable reviews and another team member describing it as very loud. Book early if that matters.
Against Yachtsman Steakhouse, ten minutes' walk around the lake: Yachtsman is the Disney-operated steakhouse, takes dining plan credits, and costs meaningfully less. Bourbon Steak is the better restaurant. Yachtsman is the better Disney decision for most families, and we say so on its own page.
Who it’s right for
Adults on a celebration dinner who have decided in advance to spend it. Anyone staying on Crescent Lake without a car. Steak people who have eaten Yachtsman and want the next level. Anyone paying with an ordinary credit card rather than a Disney budget.
Who it’s wrong for
Anyone visiting before it reopens — it has been closed since 25 June 2026. Families with young children — there is a kids' menu, but the room, the price and the noise are not built for it. Anyone on a Disney dining plan. Anyone budgeting with Disney gift cards. Vegetarians, who have no entrée. And anyone who read "$35 to $59.99 per adult" on Disney's page and planned around it.
What is actually good
Read from Disney's own dinner menu on 11 September 2026.
Start with the band, because it is wrong in a way that will cost you. Disney lists this restaurant at $$$, "$35 to $59.99 per adult". Sixteen main courses average $87.50 — $27.51 above the top of that band — and eleven of the sixteen mains cost more than $59.99. Not one main is under $42. Disney's footnote defines the band as the average adult price of the whole meal including non-alcoholic drinks, which makes the gap wider, not narrower. Read the menu, not the dollar signs.
From the Grill, nine cuts, $43 to $132. The order runs Faroe Island King Salmon $43, 14oz New York Strip $73, 10oz Center-Cut Filet Mignon $75.
Then 16oz Bone-In New York Strip $76, 16oz Delmonico Ribeye $83, and both the 8oz Wagyu SRF Rib Cap and the 22oz Dry-aged Cowboy Ribeye at $115. A 32oz Porterhouse is $125.
The A5 Striploin is listed at $132 and described as "available in 4oz increments", which does not say whether $132 buys one increment or the plate. We do not know, and we are not going to guess.
Bourbon Steak Classics are the Hay-Smoked Tomahawk at $205, Maine Lobster Pot Pie at $95, and a Slow Roasted Prime Rib at $65 marked limited availability. Fish is Big Eye Tuna Au Poivre $56 and Miso Broiled Seabass $49. Farm & Flock is a Red Wine Braised Wagyu Short Rib at $51 and an Espelette Butter Roasted Chicken at $42 — the cheapest main in the building.
Sides are not included. Eight of them, $15 to $18: creamed spinach, loaded baked potato, jalapeño creamed corn, charred broccolini and grilled asparagus at $15, whipped potatoes $16, black-truffle mac and cheese $18. Disney's own description calls them shareable, and at these prices they need to be.
Ten appetisers, $14 to $47 — Black Truffle Bread $14, three salads and an onion soup gratin $16 to $17, Michael Mina's Tuna Tartare, bacon-wrapped scallops and a jumbo lump crab cake at $26, and a Black Truffle Agnolotti at $47. A separate shellfish list runs Shrimp Cocktail $23, oysters $27, Half Maine Lobster $42 and a Shellfish Platter at $105; Red Alaskan King Crab and the Caviar Service carry no printed price at all. Five desserts, $14 to $19.
Accompaniments turn a steak into a bill: $5 to $8 for blue cheese crust, truffle butter, béarnaise or steak sauce, $18 for grilled prawns, $22 for diver scallops, $42 to lay half a Maine lobster on top.
Portions
Steakhouse portions, which at Bourbon Steak means a plate holding a steak and nothing else. The 10oz filet at $75 arrives alone. Building a normal dinner means a $15 side minimum, and the sides are large enough that two people should share one rather than order two. TouringPlans' reviewer put the floor at $71 for the cheapest appetiser, entrée and dessert on their September 2025 visit; the same three courses came to $70 on the menu we read a year later.
Allergies and dietary needs
Thin, and honestly so — this is a steakhouse. There is no vegetarian main course on the menu.
A meatless meal has to be assembled from the sides at $15 to $18 and the cheaper appetisers. Black Truffle Bread is $14, the Petite Romaine Caesar and the Wedge $16, Onion Soup Gratin $17. The $47 Black Truffle Agnolotti is the only dish that would pass as a vegetarian entrée. Only two of the sixteen mains are under $47.
Shellfish is everywhere. Call ahead if anyone at the table does not eat meat — the kitchen is a Michael Mina operation and will likely accommodate, but nothing on the printed menu does.
Common questions
- Is Bourbon Steak at Disney World open?
- No. It has been closed since a kitchen fire on 25 June 2026, and the hotel and Michael Mina's group both describe it as temporarily closed with no date. Disney's schedule showed hours from 3 October 2026 when we checked on 11 September, but that has not been announced as a reopening.
- How much does Bourbon Steak cost at Disney World?
- Sixteen main courses ran $42 to $205 in September 2026, averaging $87.50, with sides à la carte at $15 to $18. The cheapest appetiser, main and dessert together came to $70 before drinks, tax and tip.
- Why is Disney's price band wrong for Bourbon Steak?
- Disney lists it at $35 to $59.99 per adult. Eleven of the sixteen mains cost more than $59.99 and the cheapest is $42, so the average main alone is $27.51 above the top of the band. The band is a coarse four-tier label, and this is the worst mismatch we have found.
- Can you use Disney dining plan credits or gift cards at Bourbon Steak?
- No. Disney's own page states the Dolphin does not participate in any Disney dining plan and does not accept MagicBands, Disney Gift Cards or Disney Dining Cards as payment. It is Marriott-operated.
- Is Bourbon Steak better than Yachtsman Steakhouse?
- As a restaurant, yes — it is a Michael Mina kitchen and it shows. As a Disney decision, Yachtsman usually wins: it is a ten-minute walk around Crescent Lake, it takes dining plan credits, and it costs less. Bourbon Steak is the splurge, not the substitute.
- When did Bourbon Steak open at Disney World?
- 26 July 2025, at the Walt Disney World Dolphin, in the space that had been Shula's Steak House. It serves dinner only, and has been closed since a kitchen fire on 25 June 2026.
