What is Spike's Pollen-Nation Exploration?

Spike's Pollen-Nation Exploration is the scavenger hunt that runs during EPCOT's International Flower & Garden Festival. Spike the Bee is hidden in twelve gardens across the park, each time beside a different flowering plant, and you add the matching plant sticker to your map. Unlike the Festival of the Arts hunt, this one is outdoors throughout and doubles as a tour of the festival's planting.

How much does Spike's scavenger hunt cost?

Both EPCOT festival scavenger hunts work the same way and cost the same: $11.99 plus tax for a map, bought at Creations Shop, Disney Traders, Gateway Gifts or World Traveler at the International Gateway. You redeem the completed map at those same four shops.

The keepsake is not conditional — the map itself says you may redeem it whether you searched or not, so nobody runs out of park time and loses the prize. The map is also valid for the whole festival, so you can collect across several visits. For Spike's hunt the 2026 redemption deadline was 1 June, matching the end of the festival.

Where is Spike hidden in every garden?

Spoilers below — this is the complete list. Half the difficulty is that several are just outside the garden the map names, not inside it.

Which Spike location is hardest to find?

Japan, without close competition. The Kokedama Garden sits well back in the pavilion and Japan has more ground to cover than anywhere else on the route, so this one can take fifteen minutes on its own.

The Butterfly Garden is the other trap: Spike is not inside the garden at all, he is off to one side of it, so it is easy to walk the whole enclosure and conclude he is missing.

What do you get for finishing Spike's Pollen-Nation Exploration?

A solar-powered dancing flower pot, choosing from four characters at the register: Spike, Mickey, Figment or Orange Bird. It is a better prize than most park scavenger hunts give — the flower actually moves in sunlight — and it is the reason several guests buy the map without intending to search at all.

What else should you look for while hunting Spike?

Two things most guests miss, both found on this route. The Topiary Heritage Garden at the back of the UK pavilion explains the three topiary styles — free form, standard and shrub — and notes that a single shrub topiary can take ten years to grow.

And the model railway in Germany debuted at the 1995 Flower & Garden Festival as a temporary installation; it proved popular enough to keep, and its signage still changes for each festival.

Is Spike's scavenger hunt worth doing?

For a first Flower & Garden visit, yes. The route covers the whole festival footprint including gardens that are easy to walk past, the plant labelling means you learn something, and the prize is good. It suits families better than the Festival of the Arts hunt because it is outdoors and the gardens hold a child's attention between finds.
