What is a Very Merrytime Cruise?

Disney Cruise Line's Christmas season: ordinary sailings between November and late December that carry holiday decorations and a set of Christmas events at no extra charge, in the same way Halloween on the High Seas works in the autumn.

Disney lists a gingerbread house, a Christmas tree in the atrium, Mickey & Minnie's Merrytime Tree Lighting, Mickey & Minnie's Holiday Party on the upper decks, and Season's Greetings with Santa. Characters wear holiday outfits, there are crafts and seasonal gifts, and select November sailings serve Thanksgiving dinner at sea.

Which Disney ships have Very Merrytime Cruises in 2026?

Seven of the eight: every ship except the Disney Adventure, which sails from Singapore. Disney's booking site lists 69 Very Merrytime sailings in 2026:

The first leave on 9 November, the Wish from Port Canaveral and the Wonder from San Diego. The last departure is the Wish on 24 December, and the last return is the Wonder's Mexican Riviera sailing on 29 December. The Disney Destiny sails the season for the first time. The Magic spends all of its Christmas sailings in Galveston this year.

Disney disagrees with itself on the Wonder. Its Parks Blog marks six 2026 San Diego sailings as Very Merrytime; its booking site lists 11. The booking site is the live system, so the table uses it.

What happens on a Very Merrytime Cruise?

The tree lighting comes first, usually on the first night: Mickey and friends light the ship's tree in the atrium. Disney also lists the upper-deck holiday party and a meet with Santa.

Holiday films play on the pool-deck screen and in the theatres, according to DCL Fan, and Disney says both of its private islands, Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, are decorated with a tropical Christmas tree and holiday music.

Guests who have sailed it add detail Disney's page does not. Disney Tourist Blog describes snow falling in the atrium at a party it calls Santa's Winter Wonderland Ball on past sailings, and a holiday version of the farewell show. Disney Cruise Planning, a travel-agent site, says Christmas Eve and Christmas Day sailings get milk and cookies, holiday towel animals and carolling.

How do you get the most out of a Very Merrytime Cruise?

Book from mid-November on if the decorations matter. Disney Cruise Planning says the crew-built gingerbread house is usually finished by the second or third week of November, so the earliest sailings may not have it.

Be in the atrium for the tree lighting on the first night; the same site says it usually runs twice.

If a Christmas Day at sea is the point, look at the handful of sailings that span it: the Treasure's 19 to 26 December, the Dream's 21 to 27 December, and the Magic, Wonder, Fantasy, Destiny and Wish sailings that leave between 22 and 24 December.

Is a Very Merrytime Cruise worth booking?

Yes, if you were going to cruise in November or December anyway, because it costs nothing extra. Not as a reason to cruise on its own.

Disney Tourist Blog, which has sailed it on the Dream, Wish and Fantasy, calls the festive content "a bit sparse", mostly confined to a single day and to the atrium, and warns it is nothing like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at sea.

Other outlets are warmer. DCL Fan and Chip and Company both published September 2026 pieces making the case for a holiday sailing, built on the films, the gifts and the island decorations. The honest summary is a normal Disney cruise with a Christmas layer, strongest on the night of the tree lighting.
