Table service
50's Prime Time Café
The short answer
Hollywood Studios' comedy restaurant, where the servers play your cousin and will tell you off for elbows on the table. Entrees $18 to $34, and the fried chicken and pot roast are genuinely good. The performance is the product, and it is not for everyone.

Is it worth the money?
It depends entirely on whether you want to be part of a bit.
Servers stay in character as your relatives throughout: they will check your elbows, refuse dessert until you finish your vegetables, and make you eat a bite of a stranger's meal. Guests who enjoy it describe it as the most fun meal at Walt Disney World. Guests who do not describe it as the longest hour of the trip, and both reactions are common enough that the restaurant is genuinely divisive.
The food is better than the gimmick suggests — the fried chicken at $29 is properly done and the portions are substantial. At around $45 a head with a drink it is mid-range for Hollywood Studios table service.
So: book it if your party enjoys being teased in public. Book Mama Melrose or the Brown Derby if anyone at the table would rather not be.
Who it’s right for
Families with children old enough to enjoy a server pretending to be their aunt. Anyone who wants comfort food in large portions. Groups celebrating something, where the performance lands. And guests looking for air conditioning and a long sit in the middle of a Hollywood Studios day.
Who it’s wrong for
Anyone who dislikes being singled out in a restaurant — the performance is not optional and cannot really be opted out of. Quiet diners. Plant-based diners, who have few options. And anyone in a hurry, since the bit takes time by design.
What is actually good
Aunt Liz's Golden Fried Chicken at $29 is the order, and the one the kitchen is actually good at. Mom's Old-fashioned Pot Roast is $28, Cousin Megan's Meatloaf and Grandpa Jean's Chicken Pot Pie $26, Grilled Salmon $32, the Blue Plate Special $32, and A Sampling of Mom's Favorite Recipes $34 if you cannot choose.
Starters $10 to $16 — the beer-battered onion rings at $13 are worth it. Desserts $8 to $10.50, and Dad's Favorite Chocolate Peanut Butter Layered Cake at $10.50 is the one people photograph. Prices checked 9 September 2026.
The Caesar Salad with Chicken at $18 is the cheapest way in and the least interesting plate on the menu.
Portions
Large and old-fashioned. The fried chicken and the pot roast both defeat most people, and the sampler at $34 is genuinely three plates. Starters are shareable and mostly unnecessary given what follows.
Allergies and dietary needs
Handled but not celebrated. A plant-based warm apple crisp is on the dessert menu, and the kitchen does the standard Disney allergy chef visit. The menu is built on fried chicken, meatloaf and pot roast, so plant-based diners have less to choose from than at most Disney table service.
Common questions
- What is the gimmick at 50's Prime Time Café?
- Servers play members of your family in a 1950s kitchen. They will tell you to take your elbows off the table, refuse dessert until you have eaten your vegetables, and involve you in the bit whether you volunteer or not. It is the reason to go and the reason some people never return.
- How much does 50's Prime Time Café cost?
- Entrees run $18 to $34 — Aunt Liz's Golden Fried Chicken at $29, pot roast $28, meatloaf and chicken pot pie $26, salmon $32, the Sampling of Mom's Favorite Recipes $34. Starters $10 to $16, desserts $8 to $10.50. About $45 a head with a drink. Checked 9 September 2026.
- What should you order?
- Aunt Liz's Golden Fried Chicken at $29. It is what the kitchen does best and the dish most people come back for. The pot roast at $28 is the alternative. Skip the Caesar salad at $18, which is the least interesting plate on the menu.
- Can you opt out of the performance?
- Not really. Servers stay in character throughout and the interaction is the point of the restaurant. You can tell your server you would rather be left alone and most will ease off, but the room is loud and the bit is happening at every table around you regardless.
- Is it good for picky eaters?
- Yes, unusually so — fried chicken, meatloaf, pot roast, chicken pot pie and pasta cover most children and most cautious adults. Plant-based diners are the exception and have very little to choose from.
