Is the Disney Dining Plan worth it?

What a credit has to be worth

The plan bundles three things. To see what the table-service credit costs, take the price of the other two out at what they would cost in cash:

• A counter-service meal is worth $17.67 before tax: the median of Disney’s own average entrée price at our 88 park counter-service restaurants, plus a $4.99 fountain drink — a plan counter meal is an entrée and a drink.
• The snack is worth $4.99: a fountain soft drink, one of the items on Disney’s own snack list, at the median of the 3 menu prices we hold. That makes it a floor — a Mickey bar or popcorn is worth a little more.
• Menu prices do not include tax and the plan does, so both are put on the same basis at Orange County’s 6.5%.

Where we and Disney Tourist Blog disagree, and why it matters. Their estimate of a counter credit is about $26.50; ours is $18.82 with tax. No other input moves the verdict as much. Value the counter meal their way and the Table-Service break-even falls to $68.06, which 7 restaurants clear (1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey's, 'Ohana, Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge, Hollywood & Vine, The Crystal Palace, Tusker House Restaurant).

Ours is the average entrée on Disney’s own counter menus. If you always order the most expensive entrée at the counter, your figure is closer to theirs. Their table credit estimate, about $64.50, is also above the median of ours, $48.27.

What it means

On the 2027 Table-Service plan, a credit is worth more than it costs at none of the restaurants we can price — 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey's come closest, $2.25 short. A typical adult order is worth less than the credit, so you are paying for the convenience of not paying.

The Deluxe plan does slightly better per credit — its break-even is $69.44 — and 3 restaurants clear it. It is built for two sit-down meals a day, every day; skip one and the maths collapses.

A dining package is the one thing that does beat the credit. Disney charges the same single table-service credit for a meal and a guaranteed seat at Fantasmic! or the Candlelight Processional as it does for the meal by itself.

10 of the 20 packages published for 2026 are worth more than the $75.74 break-even, led by Chefs de France at $94.79 a credit and Teppan Edo at $94.79 a credit. None of the 88 à la carte restaurants above manages it.

Package prices exclude tax and the break-even includes it, so they are shown here with tax added. That alone is the difference between clearing the line and missing it for Biergarten Restaurant and Garden Grill (breakfast).

What that does not mean is a bigger dinner. The package price buys the seat as well as the food, so a credit is buying more package, not more meal. If you wanted the show, it is the best use of a credit on the property. If you did not, you are spending a credit on a seat you would not have bought. The two-credit restaurants are the worst of them: Le Cellier Steakhouse at $58.04, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall at $46.33, The Hollywood Brown Derby at $44.20.

Signature restaurants are the worst use of a credit, not the best. They cost two credits, and the best of the 18 two-credit restaurants we can price returns $47.39 per credit, well short of the break-even. On current menu prices, two credits at a signature restaurant buy less than two credits almost anywhere else.

Alcohol changes it. An adult 21 or older can take a single alcoholic drink in place of the soft drink in every plan meal. If you would order a $17 cocktail at dinner anyway, each table credit is worth about $12 more than the figures here, and many more restaurants clear the line.

For children aged 3 to 9

Disney’s rule is that children on the plan “must order from a children’s menu, where available”. So a child’s credit buys a kids’ meal: the set child price at buffets, family-style and set-menu restaurants, and elsewhere the average kids’ entrée on Disney’s dinner menu, with its drink, plus a kids’ dessert (the median of those listed, $5.50, where a menu has none). A child’s counter meal is the average kids’ entrée with its drink at our park counters, $8.32.

A child’s credit clears the line almost everywhere. 58 of the 74 restaurants we can price for a child are worth more than $17.76. The 16 that are not: Rainforest Cafe at Disney's Animal Kingdom, Rainforest Cafe at Disney Springs, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Flying Fish, Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, Narcoossee's, Le Cellier Steakhouse, Jiko — The Cooking Place, Topolino's Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera, Cítricos, Tiffins Restaurant, Geyser Point Bar & Grill, The Hollywood Brown Derby, The BOATHOUSE, Paddlefish, Bar Riva.

The Quick-Service plan is the exception: for a child it costs about $2.78 a night more than cash.

Disney advertises “save up to 20%” on kids’ dining in 2027. Against Disney’s own kids’ menu prices, a child on the Table-Service plan saves 9% of the cash cost of the same day at the median restaurant, and 48% at 1900 Park Fare. At The BOATHOUSE the same day costs 33% more than cash.

But you cannot buy it for the children alone. Disney sells the plan for the entire party, ages 3 and up. For two adults and two children, the children’s gain covers the adults’ loss at 9 of the 74 restaurants. They are 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey's, 'Ohana, Hollywood & Vine, The Crystal Palace, Tusker House Restaurant, Garden Grill Restaurant, Teppan Edo, Boma – Flavors of Africa. At the median restaurant the family is $46.42 a night worse off than paying cash.

In 2026 the child plan is free with an eligible package, and then the only question is whether the adult plan is worth it.

Not yet confirmed for the 2027 plan

Disney tags each restaurant for each year’s plan separately. As of 22 September 2026, 63 of the 88 restaurants above are tagged for 2027 and 25 are not yet. Disney Food Blog notes that restaurants run by outside companies often confirm late in the year. If you are booking a 2027 trip on the plan around one of these, check again before you count on it:

What this does not count

• Appetisers are not included in a plan table meal at lunch or dinner — an entrée, a dessert and a drink, or a buffet. If you would order a starter anyway, you pay for it either way.
• Tips are not included. Plan or no plan, you tip on the table-service meals.
• The refillable mug comes once per stay, not per night, so it is left out of the nightly figures. It is worth something only if you are at your resort enough to refill it.
• Convenience is real. Prepaying means not watching the bill, and some families value that more than the difference. This page tells you what the difference is.
