Is it worth the money?

Yes, and it is the better Japan pavilion choice for most people.

It is the affordable half of the pavilion. A bowl here averages $27.58. In the same pavilion, Takumi-Tei's shortest menu is $150 before tax and tip — about five and a half bowls. For a family, Shiki-Sai is a normal-priced lunch.

You can spend a lot here, but you do not have to. TouringPlans put a restrained meal at $35 to $45 a person before drinks and tip. A $300 sushi boat is on the same menu, and so is wagyu at $77 to $88. Decide what kind of meal it is before you open the menu.

It takes Disney's dining plan. Disney's own page shows it as dining-plan accepted, and TouringPlans lists it as a one-credit table-service meal. That is the opposite of Takumi-Tei, which Disney's page marks "Dining Plan Meals Not Accepted."

Reviewers like it. TouringPlans headlined its review "wins with family-friendly fare", and the Disney Food Blog in June 2026 called walking past it a mistake.

What is actually good

Twelve rice and noodle bowls, $22 to $38, averaging $27.58. Oyakodon, tendon, okonomiyaki, beef yaki udon, beef omu udon and a spicy tuna don are $28 each. Vegetable udon is $24, vegetable okonomiyaki $25, and kamo udon with braised duck $30. Kaisen don, chef's-choice fish over rice, is $38. The hot-stone ishiyaki rice is counted once at its $22 vegetable price; beef or seafood is $28. Unagi don comes in two sizes, $24 and $43, and is counted at $24.

Twenty izakaya plates, $6 to $30, averaging $16.09. Miso soup is $6, tsukemono $7, edamame $8 and takoyaki $10. Karaage is $12, agedashi tofu $14 and chicken nanban $16. Wagyu gyoza is $21 and salmon miso yaki $22. Maguro tataki and rock shrimp tempura are $24. Two skewer sets, one meat and one vegetable, are $30 each.

Eight special rolls, $8 to $30, averaging $21.88. The vegetable roll is $8, spicy crunch $18, Tokyo negi $20, rainbow $24 and dragon $29, with a kobore "overflowing" roll at $30. Six classic rolls are $8 to $18.

Nigiri runs $7 to $26. Masago, saba, tako and tamago are $7. Bluefin akami, chutoro and toro, which the menu says come fresh from Japan, are $16, $22 and $26. A single piece of uni is $24.

Then the ceiling. Sushi combinations run $25, $50 and $100. The "Hashi" bridge presentation is $100 and the "Fune" boat $300. Four wagyu dishes are $77 to $88, averaging $80.75. The $88 wagyu steak is the priciest single plate outside the presentations.

Disney bands it $$, "$15 to $34.99 per adult". The bowls fit that band. The wagyu and the platters do not.

Portions

Izakaya portions — small plates meant for a table to share, with the bowls as the full meals. A bowl each and two or three plates across the table is the natural order. The skewer sets are six or eight skewers, per Disney's menu, and are sized to share.

Allergies and dietary needs

Broad for vegetarians, which is unusual for a sushi house. Vegetable udon at $24, vegetable okonomiyaki at $25 and vegetable ishiyaki rice at $22 are real mains. Agedashi tofu, vegetable tempura, the vegetable kushi set, eggplant with miso, edamame and a vegetable roll round it out. Only the spicy tuna don is labelled gluten-free on Disney's menu; soy sauce and tempura batter run through most of the rest. Raw fish is marked throughout.
