Is it worth the money?
Yes, and it is the most under-booked table-service restaurant we have priced.
The room is the draw: a working boatyard, half-built hulls overhead, timber and rope, which is more committed theming than most moderate resorts attempt. Disney's own description offers "southern hospitality in a casual but creative setting overlooking the Sassagoula River", and for once the marketing and the room agree.
At $32.88 average for an entrée it is the cheapest proper sit-down dinner we have priced anywhere on property, against $39.06 at Chefs de France, $41.20 for the secondi at Tutto Italia and $55.56 at Flying Fish. The cooking is not in that company, but the gap in price is larger than the gap in quality.
Dinner only, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. No lunch, no breakfast — which is the mistake people make at a resort where they are already standing.
And it is easy to book. Being inside a moderate resort rather than a park keeps it off most itineraries, which is precisely why it is available when World Showcase is gone.
Who it’s right for
Anyone staying at Port Orleans who does not want a food court twice. Anyone who failed to book sixty days out and still wants a real dinner. Families — a proper children's menu, a room with things to look at, and no tasting-menu solemnity. Vegetarians, who get the cheapest main on the list.
Who it’s wrong for
Anyone staying elsewhere and travelling for the food; it is good, not a destination, and Port Orleans is a bus ride from everywhere. Anyone wanting lunch. And anyone avoiding shellfish or pork, who will find the Louisiana menu narrower than its length suggests.

Enhancements are cheap and unusually so — spiced smoked gouda potatoes $5.50, bacon and cheddar loaded mash $6, chimichurri grilled shrimp $10. Desserts, listed under "A Finale From The D'Sert Sisters", run $9 to $12.
Disney bands this restaurant $$, "$15 to $34.99 per adult", and the eight-entrée average of $32.88 sits inside it. Three entrées cost more — the bayou platter, the prime rib and the steak — so the badge is fair for most of the menu and low for the top of it.
Portions
Generous, and the Taste of the Bayou at $38 is all-you-care-to-enjoy, which makes it the value order for anyone hungry. Entrées arrive as complete plates rather than bare protein, so the $5.50 to $10 enhancements really are optional — a distinction worth drawing against the signature restaurants, where a $65 steak arrives alone.
Allergies and dietary needs
One genuine vegetarian entrée, the Creole Lentils and "Chorizo" at $25, and it is the cheapest main rather than a token. Disney publishes an allergy-friendly parallel menu here as at the signatures. Shellfish and pork run through much of a Louisiana menu, so anyone avoiding either has fewer choices than the list length suggests.
