How much is Liberty Tree Tavern?

$45 an adult and $24 a child aged 3 to 9, plus tax and gratuity, at both lunch and dinner — the price does not change through the day. Is Liberty Tree Tavern all-you-can-eat?

Yes, family style — dishes come to the table and are refilled on request. It is the only all-you-care-to-eat table service inside Magic Kingdom, which is why it books up despite serving one fixed menu.

Are there characters at Liberty Tree Tavern?

No. It has had character dining in the past, which is why older guides sometimes say otherwise, but the current meal is family-style dining with no characters. For characters inside Magic Kingdom, Cinderella's Royal Table and The Crystal Palace are the options.

Is there a plant-based option?

Yes — the Tavern Keeper's Feast, built around an impossible meatloaf, served as its own full feast, not as a swapped side. Ask when booking and again at the table. Gluten-free is possible but costs you the stuffing and the gravy.

Is it hard to get a reservation?

Reasonably. It is one of a small number of table-service restaurants inside Magic Kingdom and the only all-you-care-to-eat one, so lunch slots go early in the 60-day window. It is not in the same bracket as Cinderella's Royal Table, and cancellations do appear.

The short answer

Magic Kingdom's colonial tavern, and the only all-you-care-to-eat family-style meal in the park. One fixed price all day — $45 an adult, $24 a child aged 3 to 9 — for turkey, pot roast and pork carved at the table with all the sides.

Is it worth the money?

For a family, yes, and the arithmetic is unusually easy. $45 covers three meats, four sides, a salad and a dessert with refills, at a park where a counter-service burger and a drink is $20 and leaves you hungry an hour later. A family of four eats properly for $138 plus tax and tip.

For two adults it is closer. $90 for a fixed menu you cannot alter is a lot if you were only going to eat one plate, and there is no wine list worth the name.

The unspoken advantage is the air conditioning and the sit-down hour in the middle of a Magic Kingdom day, which is worth more in July than the food is. Book it for one o'clock and treat it as the afternoon break.

Who it’s right for

Families with hungry children, where all-you-care-to-eat changes the maths outright. Big eaters. Anyone wanting a proper sit-down break in the middle of a Magic Kingdom day. Guests who like traditional American food done straightforwardly. And anyone who wants a Thanksgiving dinner in the middle of a theme park.

Who it’s wrong for

Light eaters and couples, who pay $90 for food they will not finish. Anyone wanting choice, since the menu is one platter. Diners after something adventurous. And guests who dislike shared serving dishes at a table.

What is actually good

There is effectively one order. The Patriot's Platter brings roasted turkey, pot roast and smoked pork loin with mashed potatoes, herbed stuffing, house-made macaroni and cheese, seasonal vegetables and gravy, preceded by the Declaration Salad and finished with Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. All of it is refillable.

Portions

All-you-care-to-enjoy, and the platters are refilled without fuss if you ask. Most tables do not finish the first round. The macaroni and cheese and the stuffing are what people request seconds of.

Allergies and dietary needs

A plant-based version of the whole feast exists instead of a substituted side, which is better than most family-style meals manage. Allergy handling follows Disney's standard chef visit. Gluten-free diners can be accommodated but the stuffing and gravy are the casualties.
