How to book the Royal Gathering on a Disney cruise: the 30-day window, and the exceptions

What is the Royal Gathering on a Disney cruise?

The Royal Gathering is a free, ticketed princess meet. Disney says tickets are required for select character greetings to cut the wait, and that everyone with a ticket meets all the princesses taking part, not just one.

Guests describe three to five princesses at a time. A planDisney panellist met Cinderella and Belle among others in the Grand Hall on the Disney Wish, and a TouringPlans forum member met four at once. Which ones appear changes from session to session.

Other princesses roam the ship without tickets, but less predictably. One forum member met Belle wandering the Wish and saw no other princesses outside the Royal Gathering.

When can you book the Royal Gathering?

Thirty days before you sail, for almost everyone. Disney's booking rules put its free character experiences, Royal Gathering included, at 30 days out. That is later than paid activities, which open between 75 and 130 days out depending on your Castaway Club level.

Two exceptions in Disney's rules:

• Concierge guests can book it from 130 days out by calling Shoreside Concierge Services, or online from 123 days.
• On the Disney Adventure it can only be booked on board, in the Navigator app.

How do you book the Royal Gathering?

Online, in My Reservations, the moment your window opens. Disney's steps are: open the My Plans tab, choose the day, select Add Activities, pick the Royal Gathering, select the guests who will meet the princesses, check availability and save.

A planDisney panellist recommends being logged in at midnight Eastern on the 30-day mark, the same moment online check-in opens for first-time cruisers. Blog writer Dixie Delights, in August 2026, said the free slots "disappear quickly".

You need a ticket for everyone who wants to meet the princesses. One forum member booked for herself and her daughter and left her husband off.

What if you miss it, or run late?

Keep checking, and use the roaming meets. Tickets are bookable on board through the Navigator app, subject to availability, and Dixie Delights advises choosing a sea day and not letting it become a source of stress.

Disney's rules on the day: bring one ticket per person to the meeting point at your time. You do not need to arrive early, since your place is guaranteed. If you are more than 15 minutes late, Disney says the crew will try to fit you in but cannot promise it, and rebooking may not be possible.

Photographs and autographs are both encouraged, so bring the autograph book.
