What is the EPCOT Candlelight Processional?

The Candlelight Processional is a choral retelling of the Christmas story staged at the America Gardens Theatre in EPCOT's American Adventure pavilion throughout the Festival of the Holidays. A celebrity narrator reads the nativity account, and between the readings a live orchestra and a large choir perform traditional carols.

It runs three times a night, every night of the festival, and is included with ordinary park admission.

What time is the Candlelight Processional?

Three performances a night, at 4:45pm, 6:30pm and 8:00pm, every night from 27 November to 30 December 2026. Disney publishes the times on the show's own entertainment page, so they can be planned around before you travel rather than looked up in the app on the day.

Check the times against the year you are visiting. They are set per season and they move — the 2026 line-up is not the one a guide written for an earlier festival will give you, which is the single most common way this show gets missed.

How old is the Candlelight Processional, and when did it come to EPCOT?

The Candlelight Processional began at Disneyland in December 1958, after Dr. Charles C. Hirt of the University of Southern California proposed a massed-choir performance to follow the park's earlier Dickens carollers.

That 1958 date is the tradition's, not this show's: the Magic Kingdom staged its own version from 1971, with Rock Hudson as the first narrator, and the performance only moved to EPCOT's America Gardens Theatre in 1994. Narrators sometimes cite 1958 from the stage, which is true of the tradition and misleading about the venue.

Who sings in the Candlelight Processional?

A professional core is joined by visiting choirs, and this is the detail most guests miss. Community and school choruses travel from across the United States to perform — a single night's performance may combine groups from three different states, introduced from the stage.

It is why the choir is so much larger than a theme park show would normally carry, and why the sound is closer to a cathedral than a park stage.

Do you need a dining package for the Candlelight Processional?

No, but it is the only way to guarantee a seat. A dining package books a meal at a participating restaurant and includes reserved seating at one specific performance you choose when booking. Standby seating exists for every show; whether it works depends entirely on the night and the narrator, and on a December weekend with a well-known name it means queueing for hours.

Which restaurants do the Candlelight Processional dining package, and what does it cost?

Sixteen restaurants sell it for the 2026 season. The cheapest adult seat is $43 and the dearest is $109 — two and a half times the price for the same guaranteed seat, so the restaurant you pick matters more to the bill than anything else about the evening.

Booking for the 2026 season opens on 14 October 2026, and a reservation needs a credit card guarantee. Prices below are Disney's own, as published on 20 September 2026; they exclude tax and gratuity, and park admission is not included.

At most of them the package buys an entrée and a dessert, or the full buffet where the restaurant has one, plus a drink — nonalcoholic, or alcoholic for guests aged 21 and over. Spice Road Table is the exception, and it is a different meal rather than a smaller one: two small plates, a shared tagine, a shared dessert platter and a drink.

Regal Eagle Smokehouse is the odd one out twice over. It is the cheapest by a distance, and Disney lists it as same-day only — you check availability at the restaurant on the day and dine without a reservation, rather than booking it in advance. It is also the only one of the sixteen that no dining plan covers.

Which Candlelight Processional performance should you book?

The earliest of the three where you have a choice. The first show starts at 4:45pm in 2026, before World Showcase reaches its evening peak, and it leaves the rest of the night free. The later performances collide with dinner crowds and with people staking out fireworks viewing, so both the queue and the walk back are worse.

Where should you sit at the Candlelight Processional?

Further back than instinct suggests. The America Gardens Theatre is open-air and wide, not deep, so the rear rows still have a clear view of the whole stage and the choir formation reads better from a distance than from the front. The narrator at the performance we attended made exactly this point from the stage: there are no bad seats in the house.

The mechanics decide more than the choice of row does. Dining package guests are handed a seating badge at the restaurant after the meal, printed with the date and the showtime they booked, and they enter the theatre through a separate queue.

Seating inside that queue is still first-come, first-served: the package guarantees a seat, not a particular one, so arriving early within the package queue is what buys the row.

Standby is first-come, first-served too, and Disney states that it is subject to availability because capacity is limited — which in practice means standby is seated into what the packages leave. Disney does not publish a capacity figure for the America Gardens Theatre, so nobody can honestly tell you what share of the house the dining packages take.

What is knowable is the order of operations, and that is the part you can plan around.

Does the narrator change every night?

Yes. A different celebrity narrator is scheduled across the season and the line-up is announced in stages through the autumn, not all at once. Some narrators return year after year.

This matters practically: dining packages sell out narrator by narrator, not evenly, so a popular name can be unavailable while the following week is wide open.

Who narrates the Candlelight Processional in 2026?

Disney has published most of the 2026 line-up. Two slots were still to be announced as of 20 September 2026, which is normal — the schedule lands in stages through the autumn rather than all at once.

Disney flags three as new to this year's line-up: Robin Roberts, Jason Kelce and Lacey Chabert. Jodi Benson — the voice of Ariel — takes Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, which are the two hardest nights of the season to get a seat on for reasons that have nothing to do with who is reading.

Every date here is subject to change or cancellation without notice, in Disney's own words, and narrators do drop out. Book the meal for the evening that suits the rest of your day, and treat the name as the bonus rather than the plan.

Who should skip the Candlelight Processional?

Anyone travelling with young children who will not sit still for roughly forty minutes, and anyone hoping for a general Christmas show. This is explicitly a religious performance — it is the nativity narrative from scripture, told straight, with carols. It is not a secular holiday revue, and going in expecting one is the main reason people leave disappointed.
