What a Walt Disney World trip actually costs

How much does a Disney World trip cost?

For a family of four staying a week on property, roughly $4,000 at the bottom and $9,000 at the top before flights, and the spread is not mostly about how fancy you are. It is about the dates. Every figure below carries the date we recorded it and a link to where it came from.

Most are transcribed from published rate charts and ticket pages, not measured by us — the sources are listed at the foot of this page, and where two disagree we say so. We date them because published charts do not survive at stable URLs: a price series only exists if somebody starts one, and ours starts here.

What do Disney World hotels cost per night?

Rates below are for a standard room, tax included, which is how Disney publishes them. The tax differs by county: 13.5% at the All-Stars in Osceola County against 12.5% at the Orange County resorts, so two rooms at the same headline rate are not the same price.

Read that table across the rows, not down them. A deluxe resort in its cheapest season starts at $508 — less than a moderate at Christmas ($530) and barely more than a value resort over the holidays ($428). Moving your dates is worth more than moving down a tier.

What do Disney World tickets cost?

Tickets are date-based, so the same day of the week can differ by ninety dollars depending on the month. Prices exclude 6.5% Florida sales tax.

Two things about the ticket totals above, both of which matter more than the numbers.

The four- and seven-day figures are ranges, from the cheapest start date to the dearest, because Walt Disney World tickets are date-based. They come from MouseSavers' chart of 2026 prices with the 6.5% tax taken off, the same chart behind the one-day prices. This page used to print a single cent-precise total for each, which described one start date rather than the price.

And the sources disagree on the Park Hopper range. MouseSavers' chart gives $85 to $105 for a multi-day add-on before tax. We first read TouringPlans' 2026 table as $80 to $100, and our own September 2026 audit read it as $65 to $105.

All three are printed rather than one picked quietly, which is the rule here whenever sources disagree.

The per-day cost more than halves between a one-day and a seven-day ticket — $209 against as little as $83. A longer trip is cheaper per day than a short one, which is the opposite of how most holidays work and the single biggest lever on the ticket line.

What does food cost at Disney World?

At a park counter, Disney's own menus of 15 September 2026 put a cheeseburger at about $14, chicken strips at $12.99 and a kids' meal at about $8.29. Two counter-service meals, a snack and a drink each come to about $151 a day with tax for a family of four; the arithmetic is on our food prices page.

Table service is another scale. In our first costing of eighteen restaurants, the median table-service meal was $58 a head, ranging from $12 at a counter to $295 at Victoria & Albert's. A workable planning figure for a family of four is one table-service meal every other day and quick service otherwise.

Nothing forces you to eat on property — Disney Springs and the resorts are open to anyone, and a car changes the food budget more than any dining plan does.

What are the extras nobody budgets for?

Hard-ticket party nights run $119 to $229 a person on top of admission, and they sell out at the cheaper end first. Lightning Lane, memory photos, and paid experiences like Savi's Workshop are all separate again. Self-parking at Disney resorts is now free — it cost $15 to $25 a night until January 2023 and plenty of people still budget for it.

How do you actually make it cheaper?

Three levers, in the order they matter. Move the dates — the same room swings from $294 to $530 between seasons, which dwarfs anything else. Stay longer — seven-day tickets cost $93 a day against $209 for one.

Drop the tier last, because a deluxe in September can undercut a moderate in December, and the tier change costs you the thing you came for.

Who is this trip too expensive for?

Anyone who has to travel in the last week of December or at Easter and cannot stay a full week. That combination puts you on the worst side of every lever at once: peak room rates, peak ticket pricing, short-stay per-day costs and party tickets sold out at the cheap end.

If the dates are fixed and expensive, an off-property hotel does more for the total than any on-property saving will.

Where these numbers come from

Our own price record. We log published prices with the date we saw them — resort rate charts, ticket pages, party tickets — because no public API exists for any of it and past rate charts do not survive at stable URLs.

That means this page is a snapshot with dates attached rather than a live quote, and it will become considerably more useful over time: once the same rooms have been recorded across several seasons, it can show which direction prices are moving, which nobody currently publishes for Walt Disney World.
