The short answer

Test Track has a 40-inch height requirement and finishes with a 65mph outdoor loop that is the fastest thing at Walt Disney World. The rest is a slow indoor sequence through a retro-futuristic design studio. It reopened on 22 July 2025 as Test Track 3.0, without the design-your-own-car pre-show.

Rope drop, the last hour, or use the single rider queue — Test Track's single rider line is one of the most effective at Walt Disney World and frequently saves an hour.

How the queue has changed

Its average posted wait was 69 minutes in 2017 and 59 in 2025–26 — down 14%. That is the 2nd-longest average queue of the 16 attractions Queue-Times tracks at EPCOT.

What it’s actually like

Use single rider if your party will split. The ride experience is nearly identical and the queue is routinely a fraction of standby. Reimagined in 2025: the design-your-own-car stations and the pre-show were removed, so a single rider now misses nothing.

Slow and indoor for most of its length, then one sustained high-speed outdoor section reaching about 65mph. No drops, no inversions — it is speed in a straight line and around banked curves. The speed is exhilarating, not frightening, and the noise level outdoors surprises people.

How tall do you have to be for Test Track?
40 inches. Rider Switch is available, and so is a single rider queue — which is unusual and useful at a ride this popular.
How fast does Test Track go?
About 65mph on the outdoor section, which is the fastest anything moves at Walt Disney World. Most of the ride is slow and indoors; the speed is one sustained straight-line burst with banked curves, and there are no drops or inversions.
Is Test Track worth a Lightning Lane?
It is the best-value Lightning Lane choice at EPCOT. At a 59-minute 2025–26 average it is only five minutes behind Guardians of the Galaxy at 64 — and Test Track is included with Multi Pass while Guardians costs extra as a Single Pass.
Is the single rider queue worth it at Test Track?
It is one of the most effective on the property. On a ride averaging 59 minutes standby, splitting your party is the difference between one ride and three. Since the 2025 rebuild there is no car-design pre-show to skip, so single riders see the whole ride.
