A wheelchair-accessible carpet is available; ECV users transfer to a wheelchair first. The step into a standard carpet is awkward and high.

Our own record of this ride disagrees with Disney’s label above, and we have not yet resolved which is current. Treat Disney’s label as the rule and ask at the attraction before you queue.

What it’s actually like

Slow circular flight with a lever controlling height and a second controlling pitch. No drops and nothing sudden. The camel does spit, and the outer row gets wet, which is a feature in July and a nuisance in January.

Can you stay in a wheelchair on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin?

Yes — an accessible carpet is available, so a wheelchair user does not transfer; an ECV is exchanged for a wheelchair first. Getting into a standard carpet is a high and awkward step, which is the reason to ask for the accessible one rather than press on.

What is the difference between the Magic Carpets and Dumbo?

Almost nothing mechanically — both lift and lower on a rotating arm at your own command. The differences that matter are the queue and the camel: Dumbo has an air-conditioned play area and this does not, and the camel here spits water at riders on the outer row.

Do you get wet on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin?

Only if the camel catches you, and only a spurt. It aims at the outer side of the carpets, so the inner seats stay dry. It is a novelty rather than a soaking and children usually want to be hit.

Is The Magic Carpets of Aladdin worth queueing for?

Only if the wait is short. It is two minutes long, mechanically identical to Dumbo, and Dumbo has by far the better queue. Ride whichever you happen to be standing next to.
