When to ride

Midday, or whenever your feet have had enough. It is a genuine shortcut — Main Street to Storybook Circus on foot through a crowded Fantasyland takes longer than the train does, and you sit down for it.

How the queue has changed

Its average posted wait was 13 minutes in 2023 and 18 in 2025–26 — up 38%. That is the 13th-longest average queue of the 31 attractions Queue-Times tracks at Magic Kingdom.

A wheelchair-accessible carriage is available at all three stations, so a wheelchair user boards without transferring; an ECV user transfers to a wheelchair first.

Our own record of this ride disagrees with Disney’s label above, and we have not yet resolved which is current. Treat Disney’s label as the rule and ask at the attraction before you queue.

What it’s actually like

Slow, open-sided and entirely gentle. No drops, nothing dark, nothing loud. Suitable for any age including a sleeping infant, and one of very few attractions where a pushchair does not have to be folded and left outside.

Can you take a wheelchair on the Walt Disney World Railroad?

Yes. An accessible carriage is available at all three stations, so a wheelchair user boards without transferring; an ECV is exchanged for a wheelchair first. It is one of the few ways to cross Magic Kingdom seated.

How long does the Walt Disney World Railroad take?

About twenty minutes for the full loop, with stations at Main Street, Frontierland and Storybook Circus. You can also ride one leg as transport — Main Street to Storybook Circus saves a long walk to Fantasyland with tired children.

Is the railroad a ride or transport?

Both, and it is better used as transport than most people realise. As an attraction it is a pleasant twenty-minute circuit past scenes you cannot see from the paths; as transport it is a seat, shade and a shortcut at the point in the afternoon when those are worth most.

Do the trains run all day?

Generally yes, but they stop during parades because the track crosses the route, and they can close in heavy rain. If you are relying on it to get somewhere, check before you commit to the walk to a station.
