When is each Disney ship's next dry dock?

Only the Disney Wish's is public. The table is every ship's latest dry dock and the next one announced, as of 15 September 2026.

The dates are Cruising Earth's schedule, updated 13 September 2026, checked against Cruise Critic for the Magic, Cruise Industry News for the Wonder and the Disney Cruise Line Blog for the Wish. "None" means nothing public yet, not that none is planned. Cruising Earth notes that lines usually plan routine dry docks up to two years ahead.

The Disney Wish's first dry dock, May 2027: does it affect your cruise?

Not if you are already booked, because Disney never sold the gap. The Wish leaves Port Canaveral on 25 April 2027 for a 13-night crossing that ends in Barcelona, and its first Barcelona sailing, a seven-night Mediterranean cruise, leaves on 22 May. The 14 nights between are the dry dock, which the Disney Cruise Line Blog lists as 8 to 21 May.

Disney has not named the shipyard or said what will change. Cruising Earth says so plainly, and we have found no Disney announcement.

One source disagrees on timing. The Disney Cruise Line Blog's February 2026 itinerary report said the European season was slated to end with a dry dock. Its own ship page, Cruising Earth and the schedule itself all put it in May. At the other end, the Wish's last Southampton sailing returns on 17 September and New York sailings follow, which leaves no room for one.

Disney's own announcements say only that the Wish reaches Europe after a special repositioning cruise.

Why do Disney ships go into dry dock?

Partly because the rules require it. Under the SOLAS convention and classification rules, a ship's underwater hull has to be inspected twice in every five-year period, according to the ship manager Thenamaris. One inspection can be done in the water on younger ships; the other is a dry-dock survey, which lands on the five-year cycle.

The Wish's first falls five years after its 2022 debut.

The work goes well beyond inspection. In the Dream's 28 days at Brest in 2024, the hull was blasted and repainted with a biocide-free silicone coating, propulsion was upgraded, and the Dream Tower Suite was built inside the forward funnel. The Fantasy's refit in 2025 replaced its bulbous bow with a new, more efficient one.

Some are almost pure upkeep. The Magic's May 2026 and the Wonder's 2026 dry docks were maintenance and cosmetic refreshing, and Cruising Earth found no reliable report of a new venue from either. The Magic and Wonder both went in 2023 as well, so both run on roughly three-year gaps.

What happens if a dry dock cancels your Disney cruise?

Disney has cancelled sailings over a moved dry dock twice recently, and offered the same terms both times.

Both notices came nine to ten months ahead. Both refunds covered money paid to Disney. Neither offer, as reported by Cruise Industry News and the Disney Cruise Line Blog, mentions flights or hotels.

Some Fantasy guests were disappointed, and that other lines have covered non-refundable airfare in similar cases.⁶

A breakdown is treated differently from a dry dock

The Disney Adventure's four-night sailing due to leave Singapore on 7 May 2026 was cancelled for a mechanical fault, after guests had boarded and spent a night in port. Disney refunded the fare and booked extras, gave 50% off a future sailing and paid for a hotel night.⁷

Reports disagree on flights. Some guests said Disney gave $500 for costs like changed flights; others said Disney covered every flight change. WDW News Today printed both, and we have not seen Disney's own letter.

Our reading: a scheduled dry dock that moves gets you a refund and 20%; a failure on the day got more. Neither is guaranteed, and both are one line's choices, not policy it has published.

Should you book the first cruise after a dry dock?

Booking the first sailing after a dry dock is a real trade. You get the new spaces first, and you take the risk that the yard runs late or that work is unfinished.

The Magic's first sailings after its 2023 refit are the cautionary case. In a DISboards thread from 20 May 2023, cruisers reported a starboard aft elevator out of service, hot hallways, water dripping from the ceiling outside the Walt Disney Theatre and repeated power cuts in one stateroom.

A poster relaying a crew member said most of the air conditioning and electrical systems had been replaced in the yard. The same guests praised the dining and entertainment crews.

Our view, from both cancellations: if your sailing sits right beside a gap in a ship's schedule, keep flights refundable or insured. The documented offers covered the cruise, not the travel.

How to spot a dry dock before you book

Look for a gap in the ship's schedule. A ship that sails back to back and then goes quiet for two to four weeks is almost always in a yard, as the Wish's gap from 8 to 22 May shows. Cruising Earth and the Disney Cruise Line Blog both track them.

The gap's edges are the risk. The Fantasy's cancellations were the sailings either side of its original dates, and the Magic's was the cruise straight before its gap. A sailing in the middle of a ship's season, with weeks of service on both sides, is the safest booking.
