Disney cruise staterooms: which category to book, every ship's sizes, and what each upgrade costs

What are the Disney cruise stateroom categories?

Four, on every ship:

• Inside: no window. On the Dream, Fantasy, Wish, Treasure and Destiny, a Magical Porthole shows a live view of the outside from your side of the ship, according to Disney.
• Oceanview: a fixed porthole or window, no outdoor space.
• Verandah: a private balcony. On the Disney Adventure a verandah can face the sea, or the Imagination Garden and Disney Discovery Reef inside the ship, which Disney lists as separate types.
• Concierge: suites with a lounge, sundeck and the earliest booking window. Sizes range too widely for one figure.

Within each, "Deluxe" and "Family" versions add space and a berth. Disney's pages describe a split bath in its Deluxe rooms, with a tub and shower and two separate sinks, "that allow for multiple people to use the space at the same time".

How big is a Disney cruise stateroom?

Two surprises in Disney's numbers. On the Magic and Wonder, the Deluxe Oceanview and the Deluxe Inside are the same size, 214, so the porthole is all the extra money buys. (An older Disney deck-plan page still gives the oceanview as 204; Disney's booking data and current stateroom page say 214.)

And every verandah figure includes the balcony, so the room indoors can be smaller than a Deluxe Inside on the same ship.

The Wish-class oceanview has no single figure. Disney gives a range for the whole category, and the ship pages explain why.

What does each upgrade cost?

Every 2026–27 sailing was averaged at its opening fare, per night for two with taxes and port fees.¹⁰ The step up from an inside room:

On the Wish, skip the oceanview. A verandah was only $90 a night above an oceanview; on a four-night cruise that is $360 for a balcony. On the Dream the same step is $174 a night, the steepest in the fleet.

Which stateroom should you book?

By Disney's sizes and those fares:

• A couple, or a family on a budget: a Deluxe Inside on the Magic or Wonder gives you more room than their oceanview, and the Dream-class and Wish-class insides have the Magical Porthole.
• Most families of four: a Deluxe Oceanview with Verandah, especially on the Wish class, where it costs least over the smaller rooms.
• A party of five: the Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandah on the Dream, Fantasy, Wish, Treasure or Destiny, the one category that sleeps five.
• Concierge: compare suite by suite on each ship page, since one size never fits the whole category.
