Which day of the week is busiest at Disney World?

Monday, at every park, in almost every year on record.

Averaged across all four parks for 2024 and 2025 on Queue-Times' crowd index, the week runs: Wednesday 38.8, Sunday 39.5, Tuesday 42.2, Thursday 42.5, Friday 47.5, Saturday 48.1, Monday 49.2.

The reason is arrival behaviour rather than anything Disney does. Most visitors fly in over the weekend, and Monday is the most common first full day of a trip — so Monday gets the first-day crowd on top of everyone already there. Disney Tourist Blog reaches the same conclusion independently and states it plainly: every park at Walt Disney World is busiest on Mondays.

The corollary is the useful part. If Monday is when everyone starts, then the park they start at takes the hit. That is Magic Kingdom, and it is why the first-timer instinct — arrive Sunday, do Magic Kingdom Monday — puts you in the worst queue of the week on your most anticipated day.

Which day is best at Magic Kingdom?

Sunday, and this is where our reading and the standard advice part company.

Sunday is the quietest day at Magic Kingdom in six of the eight years we pulled, and second-quietest in the other two. In 2025 it ran at 24 against Saturday's 41.

Disney Tourist Blog says Thursday or Friday, on the reasoning that locals fill the park at weekends and tourists front-load it early in their trips.

Our figures agree with them completely about Monday, and put Thursday and Friday second and third — so the disagreement is narrow and specific: they rate Sunday as a weekend day to avoid, and the queue record has it as the quietest day of the week, consistently, for a decade.

We cannot resolve that from the data we have. A plausible reconciliation is that Sunday is a heavy travel day at both ends of a trip — people flying home, people arriving too late for a park day — which would thin the park without thinning the resort.

Take both readings: Sunday and Friday are the two days both sources are content with, and Monday is the day neither defends.

Which day is best at EPCOT?

Wednesday, by the widest margin of any park.

EPCOT swings 28 points between Wednesday and Monday on the recent figures, which is the largest day-of-week effect anywhere on the property. Choosing the right day here is worth more than at any other park.

Both sources agree on the shape. Disney Tourist Blog recommends Wednesday through Friday and warns off weekends, on the grounds that EPCOT is the locals' park. They add a point our figures cannot see: World Showcase congests at weekends in a way the wait times understate.

A crowded promenade and a queue at every booth is not the same problem as a long ride queue, and a crowd index built on wait times only sees the second one.

That caveat matters most during Food & Wine, when the booths rather than the rides are the constraint.

Which day is best at Hollywood Studios?

Wednesday on the long record, Sunday on the recent one, and this is the park where the pattern is least stable.

The recent spread is narrow — six points between the best and worst day — which is another way of saying the day you choose matters less here than at EPCOT.

Disney Tourist Blog recommends Wednesday or Thursday and warns off Monday and Tuesday, on the reasoning that Hollywood Studios is the second-priority park and so gets done early in a trip. Our all-time figures match that exactly: Wednesday best at 48, Monday worst at 57.

Where they add something our data cannot see, they rate Sunday evenings as the single best time to be in this park — a within-day pattern rather than a whole-day average, and our five-day record is nowhere near enough to test it.

Which day is best at Animal Kingdom?

Wednesday, and the two readings agree completely here.

Wednesday through Thursday is clearly the midweek trough, and Saturday is the worst day on both the recent and the long record. Disney Tourist Blog recommends any weekday with Tuesday to Friday preferred, and warns off weekends — the same answer.

They also make a point our figures support: Animal Kingdom is the most forgiving park, because its crowds concentrate in the middle of the day and an early start or a late finish beats the day-of-week question entirely. With only six rides in our record, and two of them boarding wheelchairs directly, it is a park where strategy outruns timing.

How to build a week out of this

Put together, the four parks give a clean allocation rather than four separate answers, because their best days barely overlap.

Wednesday belongs to EPCOT. It is the biggest single win available — 28 points against its own Monday — and no other park has a Wednesday advantage worth as much.

Do not open your trip at Magic Kingdom on Monday. It is the most common first day of the most common arrival pattern, and it is the worst day of Magic Kingdom's week on both readings. Sunday or Friday instead.

Hollywood Studios is the flexible one. Its recent spread is six points, so slot it wherever the week leaves a gap and spend the effort on arriving early instead.

Animal Kingdom rewards the clock over the calendar. Midweek if you can, but a 9am start on a Saturday beats a midday Wednesday.

One practical caution: park hours, Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours rotate between parks by day, and a park with longer hours will read differently on a crowd index than the same park on a short day. Some of the pattern above is Disney's own scheduling rather than guest behaviour, and we cannot separate the two.

What this is built from, and what it cannot tell you

Day-of-week figures are Queue-Times' published crowd level by weekday, per park, read on 9 September 2026 from a record beginning in 2014. Two columns are shown throughout: the mean of 2024 and 2025, and the all-years figure, because the whole distribution has flattened since 2023 and a single blended number would hide it.

Park-level recommendations are cross-checked against Disney Tourist Blog's own best-and-worst-days analysis from May 2026, which uses different data and different reasoning. Where the two agree we say so; where they disagree on Magic Kingdom's Sunday, both readings are printed and neither is resolved.

Three things this cannot answer. It cannot tell you about a specific date — a Wednesday in Christmas week is not a quiet Wednesday. It cannot see congestion that is not a ride queue, which is the EPCOT festival problem. And it is queue length rather than attendance: Disney reported attendance up 3% in the quarter to June 2026 while average waits fell.
