The best Disney World resort for a baby or toddler: pools, cribs, fridges and the stroller rule that decides it

What matters most when you stay with a baby or toddler?

Getting back to the room in the middle of the day. Nearly every planning site we read agrees on that, and the reason is a Disney rule: on its buses and on all its boats, "all strollers must be folded", so a sleeping child has to be lifted out and the stroller collapsed on the way back.

WDW Prep School calls the folding so cumbersome that resorts with a non-bus route are worth paying for.

The monorail page carries no folding rule, and neither does the Skyliner's, so those and walking routes let a stroller roll on. The rest of this page, from pools to fridges, matters less than that one fact.

Which resorts let you skip the bus?

By Disney's own transportation pages, read on 26 September 2026, these resorts have a route that is not a bus:

Two of those routes are disputed for strollers. On the FriendShip boats Disney says strollers must be folded, while WDW Prep School, Fairytale Travel Guide and parents on DISboards say you can often roll on if there is space.

On the Skyliner, a planDisney panellist said in 2022 that every double stroller must be folded; in 2023 another said front-to-back doubles roll on and only side-by-side ones fold, as AllEars and WDW Prep School say. Bring a stroller you can fold one-handed either way.

The Skyliner closes from 24 to 30 January 2027, Disney says, with buses in its place.

Which resort pools are best for toddlers?

Every Disney resort has somewhere for a baby to get wet, TouringPlans says, but they differ. From Disney's own resort descriptions, read on 26 September 2026:

• All-Star Movies — Kiddie pool and water play area
• All-Star Music, All-Star Sports, Old Key West — Kiddie pool
• Pop Century — Kiddie pool with a pop-jet fountain
• Art of Animation — Interactive water play area
• Caribbean Beach — Shipwreck play area for children under 48 inches
• Beach Club and Yacht Club — A gentle slope into the main pool and 2 kiddie pools
• Animal Kingdom Lodge — A children's wading pool
• Contemporary, Bay Lake Tower, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Riviera, Saratoga Springs, Fort Wilderness — A water play area or splash area
• Coronado Springs, BoardWalk — A dry playground only

Size cuts both ways. Beach Club's Stormalong Bay is the favourite of one site, Magic Guides, while Resorts Gal and parents on DISboards call it too big to keep an eye on a wanderer. Dreams Unlimited marks BoardWalk down for having no zero-entry pool or splash pad, and Resorts Gal ranks it first for being contained and easy to watch.

Does a baby count toward the room limit?

No. In Disney's own booking data every room type sleeps one more than its limit excluding infants: a Pop Century room listed for four holds four plus a child under three. Disney's room cards do not say so, but TouringPlans and Mickey Visit both confirm the rule.

Cribs are free at every Disney resort, Disney says, mostly Pack 'n Play playards, in limited numbers; ask when you book and again at check-in. One parent on the TouringPlans forum in February 2026 found the cribs' condition "questionable", so some families bring a travel cot.

Bed rails are not on Disney's crib page, but planDisney panellists and TouringPlans say they are free on request and scarcer than cribs. A panellist warns against fitting one to the thin pull-down bed in a moderate room.

Do Disney resort rooms have a microwave or a fridge?

Not in a standard hotel room. By Disney's room data, no standard room at any value, moderate or deluxe resort has a microwave. They come with the Family Suites at Art of Animation and All-Star Music, the villa studios and larger villas, the Riviera's Tower Studios and the Polynesian's Duo Studios.

The "refrigerator" is a beverage cooler, Disney says, and not suitable for medication. First Aid in the parks will store medicine but not breast milk. For warming bottles, the Baby Care Centers in all four parks have a microwave.

At a value resort, one planDisney parent used the food court's microwave while it was open. Housekeeping comes every other day at value and moderate resorts and daily at deluxe ones, Disney says, which matters for the nappy bin.

Which resorts do the planning sites recommend for toddlers?

The planning sites agree more than they differ. Of the twelve family and resort guides we read, dated 2016 to June 2026:

• Art of Animation is named by nine: the Skyliner, the Family Suites with a kitchenette, and a splash area Mouse Hacking rates above Pop Century's.
• The Polynesian and the Contemporary are the usual deluxe picks, for the monorail or the walk to Magic Kingdom.
• Caribbean Beach is named by six, for the Skyliner and its pool.
• Pop Century is named by five, as the cheaper Skyliner resort.
• Animal Kingdom Lodge, Old Key West and Saratoga Springs are praised for rooms and pools and marked down for relying on buses.

The monorail has a dissenter. A DISboards parent argued in 2022 that the monorail resorts are "the least convenient on property" unless you spend most days at Magic Kingdom. Another said monorail trips from the Grand Floridian averaged "60+ minutes" to EPCOT.

What do parents say after they have been?

On DISboards and the TouringPlans forum, three things come up again and again.

The first is that no resort is bad with a baby, and the choice is really budget against transport. The second is that a walk to the park changes the trip more than any pool: one parent staying ten minutes' walk from Magic Kingdom said it "saved a ton of time during nap breaks".

The third is that a studio is small for a sleeping baby. One parent called it "nearly impossible to be quiet"; others put the crib in a windowless bathroom or closet with white noise.
