Disney's Typhoon Lagoon: what it costs, when it is open, and who it suits

What does a day at Typhoon Lagoon cost?

Admission is a separate ticket from the theme parks, and the water park price is the same at both.

Tax decides whether two quoted prices are the same price. A widely-cited figure for a one-day water park ticket is $78.81, which looks like a different price from Disney's $74 and is not: it is the same ticket with 6.5% sales tax added.

Our own price record stores tax inclusion as part of every figure for exactly this reason, because a resort chart quoted tax-inclusive and a ticket quoted tax-exclusive are not comparable numbers.

Is Typhoon Lagoon free with a Disney hotel stay?

Disney resort hotel guests get one free water park visit on their check-in day, and in 2026 that benefit runs from 26 May to 8 September.

It covers whichever water park is open, it applies only on the day you check in and cannot be moved to another day, and it can be used before the room is ready — which makes it genuinely useful on an arrival day that would otherwise be spent waiting. As of 7 September 2026 the benefit has one day left to run.

Disney has announced it returns in summer 2027; it is not a standing perk, and a page that describes it without a date is describing a season.

When is Typhoon Lagoon open in 2026?

Disney's own notice on the park page is unambiguous: "Starting September 9, 2026, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park will temporarily close." No reopening date is published with it.

Our own schedule ingestion says the same thing from the other direction, and that is worth more than a second article repeating the notice. We pull published park hours nightly.

On 7 September 2026 the feed carried operating hours for Typhoon Lagoon on exactly two more dates — the 7th and the 8th, 10:00 to 18:00 both days — and for Blizzard Beach on thirty-one, running to 7 October. A closure announced in prose and a closure visible as an absence of published hours are two independent observations of one fact.

Published rotation summaries go stale, and following one can send you to a shut park. One reputable outlet still describes the pattern as Typhoon Lagoon open from mid-March to early November and Blizzard Beach through the winter, which is roughly the reverse of what Disney has scheduled for late 2026.

Disney's stated rule is the only durable one: at least one water park is open each day, except in bad weather. Which one is a question with a dated answer, not a permanent one.

What is there to ride at Typhoon Lagoon?

Eleven attractions, and our own catalogue holds all eleven with their live status: Bay Slides, Castaway Creek, Crush 'n' Gusher, Gangplank Falls, Humunga Kowabunga, Keelhaul Falls, Ketchakiddee Creek, Mayday Falls, Miss Adventure Falls, Storm Slides and the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool.

The surf pool is the reason most people pick this park over the other one, and it is the one thing at either park that has no equivalent anywhere else on Disney property.

Published descriptions agree it produces waves around six feet and disagree on the interval — 90 seconds in several outlets, 110 in another — so treat the cycle as roughly a minute and a half and the wave height as the reliable figure.

The superlative is also contested: one source calls it the largest wave pool in North America, another the more careful "one of the world's largest outdoor wave pools". We are not in a position to settle it and we are not going to pick the bigger-sounding one.

The park's water is heated to approximately 81 degrees Fahrenheit, which Disney states outright and which matters more than it sounds in February.

How tall does a child have to be at Typhoon Lagoon?

Two attractions have a minimum height and one has a maximum, which is the shape parents keep having to look up.

• Humunga Kowabunga — 48 in / 122 cm and over
• Crush 'n' Gusher — 48 in / 122 cm and over
• Bay Slides — 60 in / 152 cm and under
• Everything else — any height

The practical reading is that Typhoon Lagoon is unusually open to small children: nine of eleven attractions have no minimum at all, including the surf pool, the lazy river and every one of the raft rides. Blizzard Beach has a comparable count. Neither park is the one where a 42-inch child is left watching.

What is there to eat at Typhoon Lagoon?

Two counters on this site, both on Disney's menus of 15 September 2026. Leaning Palms, open for lunch, has an Angus cheeseburger at $12.29, a bacon cheeseburger and a barbecue chicken flatbread at $13.29, and an Island Impossible burger at $13.99. Typhoon Tilly's has a fried fish platter at $14.29, a pulled pork sandwich at $13.29 and chicken strips at $10.99.

Kids' meals are $7.29 to $8.99, and a fountain drink $4.79.

You can bring your own food. Disney's park rules do not ban it, but they do ban alcohol, glass containers other than small baby-food jars, and any cooler or bag larger than 24 by 15 by 18 inches, at the water parks as at the theme parks. Wagons are not allowed either.

Should you go to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

Published opinion divides on a consistent line, and it is a genuine split, not a disagreement about facts. Writers who rank atmosphere and the wave pool first choose Typhoon Lagoon; writers who rank slides first choose Blizzard Beach and its 120-foot Summit Plummet.

Disney Tourist Blog puts Typhoon Lagoon "as close to perfection as any of the Walt Disney World parks get" on theming while conceding the slides are better next door. One planning site calls the two a tie for adults and gives Blizzard Beach the under-fives on the strength of its kids' area.⁵

One practical point cuts through the preference: for most of the rest of 2026 the choice is not available. See the operating dates above before deciding on the basis of taste.

What we can and cannot tell you about Typhoon Lagoon

Nobody on this site has been to Typhoon Lagoon, and this page does not pretend otherwise. Everything above is Disney's own published information and the reporting of named outlets, each row dated and tiered in the sources block below.

There is no ranking of the slides here and no verdict on whether the cabana is worth it, because a verdict needs either a visit or a source and on those questions we have neither.

What we do have is our own record, and it has a specific limit worth stating.

Queue-Times does not list either water park, so a wait time here comes from one feed, not two. The site's headline claim is two independent sources and how often they agree; a single source cannot agree with itself, and the agreement figure excludes these rides instead of quietly counting them.

Beyond that, both parks entered our ingestion on 7 September 2026 and every poll so far has landed after the 18:00 close, so what we currently hold is operating status and published hours — not a single posted wait. That will change from tomorrow, and until it does the honest statement is that the record exists and is empty.
