Transfer required. Guests must be able to sit upright with a lap belt. Not suitable for anyone prone to motion sickness.

What it’s actually like

A cabin simulator that tilts, drops and shakes in front of a 3D screen. No real motion through space, but the simulation is convincing enough to cause motion sickness in people who are fine with coasters. Loud, dark, and briefly intense during the crash sequences.

How tall do you have to be for Star Tours?

40 inches, and Disney also requires that you can sit upright with a lap belt fastened. The second condition catches people the first does not.

Does Star Tours make you sick?

It is the most likely ride at Hollywood Studios to do so, and the reason is the combination rather than the intensity. You watch a screen while the cabin pitches and jolts underneath you, which is exactly the mismatch that causes motion sickness. Anyone who struggles with flight simulators should skip it regardless of how mild it looks from outside.

Is Star Tours different every time?

Yes, and that is the point of the current version. The destinations, the hologram message and the ending are drawn from a large set of segments, so two consecutive flights are genuinely different. Riding twice is a reasonable use of a short queue rather than a completist exercise.

Is Star Tours scary for children?

Rarely frightening and often too rough. There is nothing dark or startling in the story, but the cabin moves sharply and the 3D can be disorienting for small children who have no trouble with the content.
