When it runs it is a twenty-one-minute rotating theatre show in Tomorrowland with no height requirement, air-conditioned, with a seat for everyone, and in some form it has run since the 1964 World's Fair.

What it’s actually like
The last attraction Walt Disney personally worked on, closed since 6 July 2026 for its biggest change in decades: Disney Tourist Blog reports all-new show scenes and a new Walt Disney Audio-Animatronics figure when it returns in 2027.
You sit in a rotating theatre. No motion beyond the slow turn between scenes. Nothing dark, nothing loud, nothing frightening. The mildest attraction in the park.

- Is Carousel of Progress open?
- No. It closed on 6 July 2026 for a reimagining with all-new show scenes, and Disney's own page expects it back in late spring 2027.
- Why is Carousel of Progress still at Magic Kingdom?
- Because Walt Disney built it and it has never been replaced. It was made for the 1964 New York World's Fair, ran at Disneyland from 1967 to 1973, and has been in Tomorrowland since 1975. Its six stages each play a scene at once, which is how it holds the record for the most performances of any stage show in American theatre history.
- Does Carousel of Progress move?
- The seating does, not you. The entire auditorium rotates around a fixed set of stages between scenes, which is the mechanism the attraction is named after. It is slow and smooth, and it does not cause motion sickness in people who get it elsewhere.
