Early. The queue is entirely outdoors, unshaded and next to the track, which makes it one of the least pleasant waits in the park on a hot day.

How the queue has changed

What boarding is like

Transfer required. Guests must be 54 inches to drive alone; below that an adult drives while the child steers ineffectually, which disappoints children who expected to drive.

What it’s actually like

Slow — under seven miles an hour — with a guide rail preventing any real steering. The car judders and the engine is loud, and the noise and petrol smell are the parts adults dislike. No drops and nothing dark.

How tall do you have to be to drive at Tomorrowland Speedway?

32 inches to ride with an adult, but 54 inches to drive alone — and the second number is the one that matters. 54 inches is taller than the requirement for any thrill ride at Magic Kingdom, so most children who want to drive cannot.

Is Tomorrowland Speedway disappointing?

Often, and it is worth knowing why beforehand. The cars run on a centre rail, so steering does almost nothing; a child under 54 inches sits beside an adult who is really driving. Children who queued expecting to drive a car frequently finish the ride upset about it.

Is Tomorrowland Speedway loud?

Yes — petrol engines, exhaust fumes and a constant drone that carries across that corner of Tomorrowland. It is the least Disney-feeling attraction in the park and a poor choice for anyone sensitive to noise or smell.

Is Tomorrowland Speedway worth the wait?

Only for a child tall enough to drive alone. Ten minutes was the 2025–26 average and nineteen the average daily peak, so the queue is rarely the problem — the gap between what it promises and what it delivers is.
