Is a Disney cruise cheaper than Disney World?

Not by much either way, at the budget end. Two adults, four nights, on the figures behind our two cost guides:

The cruise figure is EverythingMouse's average opening fare for a four-night Wish sailing, with taxes and port fees, plus Disney's $16 per guest per night gratuity. The Disney World figure uses the cheapest All-Star night MouseSavers recorded, tax included, MouseSavers' four-day ticket range before 6.5% tax, and the 2026 Quick-Service Dining Plan at $60.47 per adult per night.

What does each price include?

The cruise fare covers most of the day. Disney's list: the stateroom with taxes and port fees, rotational dining and quick-service food, soft drinks at the beverage stations, the stage shows, the youth clubs, stateroom service twice a day, and the private-island day. Alcohol, specialty dining, Wi-Fi, excursions and the spa cost extra.

At Disney World you pay for each piece. The hotel, the park tickets and every meal are separate, and so are Lightning Lane passes. Children under 3 get into the parks free, which a cruise cannot match: Disney's recommended cruise gratuities cover every guest, infants included.

Food is the biggest difference in kind. A cruise dinner is a table-service meal in a themed restaurant every night; the Disney World budget above is counter service.

Which is better for young children?

Parents who have done both tend to give the cruise the edge under five. Toddling Traveler found a stroller optional on the ship and essential at Disney World, where the walking is hard on small legs. Second Dad to the Right points out that on the ship you meet characters without the long lines, and unpack once.

Disney World has more of everything: rides, shows and characters. The same writers call the rides its biggest draw, and describe families going until they are exhausted, where the cruise's goal is mostly relaxation.

Which is better for older kids and adults?

Ride lovers should pick Disney World. A Disney ship has a water coaster at most. Four parks have dozens of rides, and the park days are the point.

Can you do both on one trip?

Yes, and Disney runs the transfer. Its buses go from a Walt Disney World hotel or Orlando airport to Port Canaveral for $45 per person each way, according to Disney's planDisney panel in August 2025 and OrlandoParksGuy in January 2026. Disney moves your luggage and assigns your port arrival time.

TouringPlans' writer timed the ride out at 72 minutes. The return was slower: waiting for everyone to leave the ship, then two hotel stops, kept them on the bus for nearly three hours. Book the parks first and the cruise second if you can, so the long leg is the one without a ship to catch.
