Which dock does Disney use in Juneau?

The AJ Dock, in every Disney report we found, and it is the furthest from town. Travelling With Nikki described it that way on a Disney Wonder call, with free buses taking Disney guests to the downtown docks in a few minutes; a DISboards thread in 2019 said the same, and a poster added that Disney's bus to town was free.

Capital Transit, Juneau's city bus, warns cruise passengers that some terminals are up to 1.5 miles from the downtown transit centre, so check the Navigator for the day's shuttle times.

How do you get to Mendenhall Glacier from the Disney ship?

The glacier's visitor centre is about 13 miles from downtown and the cruise docks, the Forest Service says. There are three ways there.

The city bus stops at Dredge Lake Road, a 1.5-mile walk of about 30 minutes from the visitor centre, Capital Transit says; its buses leave from the Downtown Transit Center, not the docks. The Alaska Edit's 2026 guide recommends a pre-booked return shuttle with about two hours at the glacier, which leaves time for the 2-mile round trip to Nugget Falls.

The Forest Service charges $5 for visitors 16 and over to enter the visitor centre and some developed areas, and some shuttles include it. The visitor centre is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from May to September.

Is the Mount Roberts Tram worth it on a Disney cruise day?

For a Disney day it is the simplest outing in Juneau: the Mount Roberts Tram's base terminal sits on the cruise docks on South Franklin Street, so there is no transport to arrange. The tram climbs about 1,800 feet in six minutes to the Mountain House, with a restaurant, a theatre and trails at the top, the operator says.

Prices differ by where you look. Goldbelt Tram's own ticket page lists an all-day pass at $60 for adults and $45 for children aged 3 to 12; Viator's listing gives $65 and $50. Weather can change the day's schedule, the operator warns.

What has changed in Juneau for cruise passengers?

Prices, for a start. On a Disney Wonder visit written up in 2014, Nikki paid $16 a person for a return glacier bus and about $30 for the tram. In 2026 glacier shuttles start at about $79 and the tram's own price is $60.

Juneau also now caps its visitors. Under a voluntary agreement between the city and the cruise industry, no more than 16,000 cruise passengers a day are meant to come ashore from 2026, and 12,000 on Saturdays, the Juneau Empire reported; the city's tourism director can approve exceptions case by case.

Late-summer sailings can meet the Mendenhall River's glacial outburst floods. In 2026 Suicide Basin released on 13 August and the river crested at 14.7 feet, below 2025's 16.6-foot record, the Alaska Climate Research Center reports; about 5,000 Mendenhall Valley residents were advised to evacuate, and damage was minor.
