Skagway on a Disney cruise: a twelve-hour day, the White Pass railway, and which trains need a passport

The Disney Wonder's 2026 Navigators give almost 13 hours in Skagway, 7:15 a.m. to 8 p.m., the longest port day we have found on a Disney cruise. The White Pass railway boards at the docks: the Summit Excursion needs no passport, the eight-hour Bennett trip does. The national historical park in town is free.
How long do you get in Skagway on a Disney cruise?

That is longer than any other port day in the Navigators we have checked, Caribbean or Alaskan, and it is long enough for the railway's full-day Bennett trip. Skagway comes the day after the glacier-viewing day and the day before Juneau.
Which dock will the Disney ship use in Skagway?
Skagway has three cruise docks, Railroad, Broadway and Ore, and ships are assigned among them; the local visitor site's calendar uses the codes RRA, RRF, BRD and ORE, and notes that assignments can change. The Navigator names yours.
The Railroad Dock, the biggest, has been closed to pedestrians since rockslides in summer 2022, Alaska Public Media reported in August 2025, so passengers docked there are moved by shuttle or small boat rather than walking into town. Allow for that on the way back.
Which White Pass train should you take from a Disney cruise?
The White Pass & Yukon Route boards cruise guests on each of Skagway's three piers, the railway says. Its 2026 prices:

The Summit Excursion loops into Canada without stopping there, so it needs no passport, Alaska Trippers explains, and it sometimes sells out. The Bennett trip goes on to Lake Bennett and Carcross in the Yukon, and the railway lists a passport as required. With nearly 13 hours ashore, the Bennett trip fits a Disney day, but only if everyone in your party has the documents.
What can you do in Skagway without a tour?
Walk the town. Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park is Skagway's historic district, and the National Park Service charges nothing to enter it; ranger programs and park museums are free too. The Park Service offers a self-guided walking tour of its buildings, and the visitor centre is the place to start.
For longer legs, the Park Service lists trails around Skagway from 1 to 7 miles, with waterfalls, lakes and views of the fjord. On a 13-hour day there is time for a hike and the town, but the all-aboard is still final unless your outing is a Disney Port Adventure, which Disney waits for if it runs late, a planDisney panelist wrote in November 2023.
