Disney's Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
The short answer
French Quarter is the smallest moderate resort at 1,008 rooms, and that is the entire argument for it. Every room is within a few minutes' walk of the food court, the pool and the buses, which is not true of any other moderate. Rooms start around $314 a night in 2026.

Who it’s right for
Parties of four who want a moderate room without a moderate walk, couples, and anyone who has stayed at a sprawling resort and decided never again. Also the best moderate for a short trip, where the time saved walking is a real fraction of the stay.
Who it’s wrong for
Parties of five — there is no fifth-person room here at all, and Riverside's Alligator Bayou section next door is the answer. It is also wrong if you want a table-service restaurant on site, or a resort with much to do: one pool, one food court, one bar, and a boat to Disney Springs is the whole offering.
Is it worth the money?
Yes, and specifically because it is small. The moderate tier's recurring problem is scale — Caribbean Beach wraps a 42-acre lake, Riverside has 2,048 rooms, Coronado runs internal buses — and French Quarter simply does not have that problem. You are paying the same $314 as Riverside for a resort where you can see the pool from most buildings. If you value not walking, this is the best-value moderate on property.

What the rooms are actually like
314 square feet with two queen beds or one king, sleeping four. No fifth-person option anywhere in the resort — that is Riverside's Alligator Bayou section, next door. The rooms were refurbished to a lighter, less heavily themed scheme and read as a good hotel rather than as New Orleans.
Sleeps up to 4, not counting infants — the table below says which room that takes.

Which room should you request?
Seven buildings around one pool and one food court, and nothing is more than about a five-minute walk. Buildings 2 and 5 are closest to the bus stop; 6 and 7 back onto the river and are the quietest. This is the resort where room location matters least, which is worth something.

What has changed recently?
Rooms were refurbished in the late 2010s to the current lighter scheme. The resort is otherwise much as it has been since 1991, which regular guests treat as a feature.
Working from here
workable
A desk and a chair, reliable wifi, and Scat Cat's Club is pleasant to work from in the morning before it opens properly. Better than any value resort and about level with Caribbean Beach.

- How much is Port Orleans French Quarter?
- From about $314 in the cheapest 2026 season to $476 over Christmas, rack rate including 12.5% tax. That is the same published band as Port Orleans Riverside next door, which makes the choice between them about size and room types, not money.
- French Quarter or Riverside?
- French Quarter if you are a party of four and want everything within a five-minute walk. Riverside if you need a room sleeping five, want a table-service restaurant on site, or prefer more to look at. They cost the same and are joined by a riverside path, so you can eat at either.
- Are the beignets at French Quarter worth it?
- They are the most consistently recommended snack at any Walt Disney World resort, served at Sassagoula Floatworks, and people staying elsewhere take the boat over for them. Mickey-shaped, fried to order, and cheap by Disney standards.
- Does French Quarter have rooms for five?
- No. Every room here sleeps four. The fifth-person rooms are in the Alligator Bayou section of Port Orleans Riverside, a ten-minute walk along the river, and they sleep the fifth person on a 66-inch Murphy bed.
