Any time. It is one of the few EPCOT attractions you can reliably walk onto, which makes it useful when everything else has a queue.

How the queue has changed

Its average posted wait was 15 minutes in 2017 and 10 in 2025–26 — down 33%. That is the 10th-longest average queue of the 16 attractions Queue-Times tracks at EPCOT.

What it’s actually like

Slow with no drops. One section uses a loud sudden noise and a skunk scent effect that startles small children more than anything else in the pavilion. Otherwise entirely gentle and brightly lit.

Can you stay in a wheelchair or ECV on Journey Into Imagination?

Yes, and unusually you can stay in either. Disney lists it as May Remain in Wheelchair or ECV, which means no transfer and no swap — one of only a handful of rides at Walt Disney World where an ECV user does not have to change to a wheelchair first.

Is Journey Into Imagination good?

It is the most argued-about ride at EPCOT and the honest answer is that it is a shadow of what it replaced. The skunk smell gag, the laboratory scenes and Figment himself have their defenders, but the current version sits near the bottom of published rankings — 58th of 65 at Steps to Magic, 54th at Ziggy Knows Disney — and its harshest critics are the people who love EPCOT most.

Is Journey Into Imagination suitable for small children?

Yes — six minutes, slow, no drops, no height requirement. There is one loud noise near the end that startles some children, and a brief dark section, but nothing frightening.

Is Journey Into Imagination worth a Lightning Lane?

No. Ten minutes was its 2025–26 average against a 22-minute peak, so it is close to a walk-on most of the day and among the weakest uses of a Tier 2 slot at EPCOT.

Is Journey Into Imagination being replaced?

Reimagined, not removed. At D23 in August 2026 Disney announced a new version of the ride that reunites Figment with Dreamfinder, the character who led the original from 1983 to 1998. Disney gave no timeline and no closing date for the current ride, so plan on it running as it is.
