What it’s actually like

You sit still. Some in-theatre effects including movement of the seats and a brief scent. Loud during the volcanic sequence. Nothing frightening for most children, though the extinction section is sombre.

Where is Awesome Planet at EPCOT?

Upstairs in The Land pavilion, in the Harvest Theater above Soarin'. That location is why almost nobody finds it: the queue for Soarin' is on the same level and people walk past the escalator without looking up.

Is Awesome Planet worth watching?

It is ten well-made minutes on the natural history of the Earth, narrated and beautifully shot, ending on a conservation message. As a film it is good; as an air-conditioned seat in a theatre that is almost always empty, it is one of the better-kept secrets at EPCOT.

Is Awesome Planet suitable for young children?

Mostly, with one caveat. There is no height requirement and nothing frightening, but there are loud sequences — volcanoes and storms — in a dark theatre, which unsettles some small children more than the content warrants.

How long do you wait for Awesome Planet?

Rarely anything. It runs on a cycle in a theatre that seldom fills, so the wait is usually just the remainder of the showing already running.
