Which pier does a Disney ship use in Cozumel?

Punta Langosta, in nearly every report we found. The pier sits in downtown San Miguel, and firsthand Disney accounts put the ship there: the Disney Destiny on 3 August 2026, per the Disney Cruise Line Blog, the Disney Treasure in a July 2025 trip report, and one DISboards poster's six Disney visits.

Cozumel Info, a local guide, calls it the typical pier for Disney and Norwegian.

Cozumel's two other cruise piers, the International Pier and Puerta Maya, are about 2.5 miles and 3 miles south of town.

One tour seller's 2026 guide says Disney mostly uses Puerta Maya; we found no firsthand report that agrees, and our own AIS position record does not either: the four Disney calls it catches at Cozumel, by the Fantasy and the Magic in March and April 2024, all sat stationary off downtown San Miguel, none at the southern piers.

The port can move ships on a busy day, so check the Navigator app the evening before.

Busy days are common. Cozumel took 4.73 million cruise passengers on 1,300 ships in 2025, Quintana Roo's port authority told Mexico Business News. Even so, both Disney calls above had Punta Langosta to themselves.

How long do you get in Cozumel on a Disney cruise?

Between six and nine hours, depending on the ship. The Disney Cruise Line Blog's copies of six Personal Navigators show:

The day itself can move. The Disney Magic's Galveston sailing of 20 February 2026 swapped its Cozumel and Progreso days to get round an approaching weather system, the Blog reports. Check the Navigator app for your own times.

What can you walk to from the Punta Langosta pier?

Downtown San Miguel. Passengers leave through the Punta Langosta shopping mall onto Avenida Rafael Melgar, the waterfront road, Cozumel Info says. North along it are the jewelry and duty-free shops and Parque Benito Juárez, the town square, a few blocks away.

On a Disney Treasure call, the travel blogger behind Travelling With Nikki spent just over two hours exploring downtown on foot: the waterfront, the square and Plaza Confetti. She and the Disney Cruise Line Blog both found the Mega supermarket a few minutes' walk from the pier. Nikki bought hot sauces there; the Blog describes it as part grocery, part department store.

The Museo de la Isla de Cozumel, on the same waterfront, fills a 1930s building that was one of the island's first hotels. The foundation that runs it charges $11 and opens 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday.

One local blog, Cozumel MY Cozumel, still lists it as closed on Sundays; we follow the foundation's own page, which puts the closed day on Monday.

How much is a taxi from the Disney pier in Cozumel?

Pier taxis have no meters. Fares are set by zone and group size, in US dollars, for one to four passengers, with a higher rate for five to eight, and the rates are posted at the rank. Cruzely says drivers take cash only and suggests a tip of 10 to 15%.

The board at Punta Langosta, photographed by the Disney Cruise Line Blog on 3 August 2026, priced a ride to the Nachi Cocom beach club at $22 for one to four people and $44 for up to eight. EverythingCozumel says the union's rates were approved in 2016 and add $1 from Punta Langosta to the southern piers' fares, which it gives as $8 to $35.

From the southern piers, PortdayGuide puts downtown at about $8. Outlets differ on Chankanaab: PortdayGuide says $12, Cruzely $15. Believe the board on the day, and agree the total before you get in.

Dollars are accepted, but EverythingCozumel warns the rate you get paying in dollars is significantly worse than a bank's.

What are the best things to do in Cozumel on a Disney cruise?

Chankanaab's Sunday closing matters on Disney's schedule: the Disney Magic's 20 March 2026 sailing was in Cozumel on a Sunday. Cozumel MY Cozumel lists the same closed day. The park sits inside Cozumel's national reef park, 9 km down the south coastal road, and its extras include a dolphin encounter at $109 and snorkel gear rental at $15, the foundation says.

Nachi Cocom's day pass rose from $69 to $79 on 9 March 2026, Into the Funnel reports, and the Disney Cruise Line Blog paid $79 in August. Out on the reef, Cozumel Mío's summary of the marine park rules bans chemical sunscreen filters such as oxybenzone and forbids touching coral or wildlife.

Boat trips also collect a federal wristband fee; local operators disagree on the amount and on whether tours include it, so ask when you book.

Should you book a Disney Port Adventure or explore Cozumel on your own?

Downtown and Chankanaab are easy to do on your own: both are a walk or a short taxi ride from Punta Langosta. Disney's Port Adventures earn their price on timing. If a Disney-booked excursion runs late, Disney will wait or arrange transport to the next port, a planDisney panelist wrote in November 2023.

Tours booked with anyone else carry no such promise.

That matters most for the mainland. Tulum and the other Maya sites on the coast opposite mean a ferry crossing each way, so a late ferry can mean a missed ship. Whichever way you book, leave a margin before all-aboard.

Is Cozumel safe for Disney cruise passengers?

The US rates Quintana Roo, the state that includes Cozumel, Level 2: exercise increased caution, citing terrorism and crime. The State Department's advisory feed, read on 15 September 2026, carries text dated 11 August 2025 telling visitors to watch their surroundings after dark in downtown Cancun, Tulum and Playa del Carmen. Cozumel is not named.

Fox News reports the Mexico advisory was updated on 29 May 2026 and stayed at Level 2 overall.

The UK's advice, updated 11 September 2026, lists Cozumel among the destinations Mexico's government works to protect. It also warns that criminals have assaulted British travelers in those places, in some cases involving taxi drivers, hotel staff or security guards. Take taxis from the official pier rank and keep to the busy waterfront streets.

What does Mexico's cruise passenger fee add to a Disney cruise?

$10 a passenger since 1 August 2026, double the $5 fee Mexico introduced in July 2025. The phased schedule takes it to $15 from August 2027 and $21 from August 2028, PAX reported; Mexico first proposed $42.
