The Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder both start San Diego seasons in autumn 2026, and their seven-night itineraries call at Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas, the Disney Cruise Line Blog's schedule shows. The Magic's Panama Canal crossing from San Diego to Galveston in November 2026 stops there too.

The Wonder's Personal Navigator for its call on 24 March 2025 gave guests ashore from 8:00 a.m. to all aboard at 3:30 p.m., seven and a half hours, and an early finish.

What happened in Puerto Vallarta in February 2026, and is it safe now?

On 22 February 2026 a military operation killed the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, and violence followed: vehicles set on fire across Puerto Vallarta and reports of gunshots and carjackings, Cruise Fever reported. Holland America, Princess and Carnival suspended visits into mid-March, the same report says.

The Norwegian Bliss was the first ship back, on 4 March 2026. By 8 March, Vallarta Today reported 14 arrivals scheduled for the month and operations running normally, though Princess extended some cancellations.

The US rates Jalisco Level 3, reconsider travel, but lists no travel restrictions for its employees in Puerto Vallarta or neighboring Riviera Nayarit, the State Department's advisory feed says. Disney decides port by port; watch for an itinerary email.

How do you get from the cruise port to the Malecón?

By taxi or bus; walking is possible but long. The Marina Vallarta cruise terminal sits about three miles north of downtown, Cruise Hive and What's In Port agree. What's In Port puts a taxi at about $5 to $7, negotiable, and 10 to 15 minutes; the city bus marked Centro costs 10 pesos a ride, with no transfers, from near the terminal exit.

For a short outing, Walmart and Sam's Club are across the boulevard, about a ten-minute walk. Going back, know your gate: Tourism Puerto Vallarta lists Gate 3 for Pier 1, Gate 11 for Pier 2 and Gate 17 for Pier 3.

What should you do in Puerto Vallarta on a Disney cruise day?

The Malecón, a 12-block seafront boardwalk with restaurants and shops, is the classic walk, Cruise Hive says, and the old centre behind it has Spanish colonial streets. South of it, Playa de los Muertos is the town's popular beach. The Vallarta Botanical Garden is a taxi ride away.

With all-aboard at 3:30 p.m. on the Wonder's 2025 call, the day is shorter than it looks. Anything outside town is safer as a Disney Port Adventure, because if it runs late Disney waits or gets you to the next port, a planDisney panelist wrote in November 2023; an independent tour carries no such promise.

What money do you need, and what does Mexico's cruise fee add?

US dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas, What's In Port says, and the terminal has ATMs and a currency exchange. Taxis are not metered, so agree the fare first.
