Disney PhotoPass and Memory Maker: the 14 ride photos, the prices, and when it is worth it

What is Disney PhotoPass?

Disney's free photography service. Photographers, most in green shirts, work at more than 175 spots across Walt Disney World, at more than 40 character meets and in three indoor studios. You link the photos to your Disney account by tapping a MagicBand, your phone's Disney MagicMobile pass, your ticket card or a PhotoPass card, and most appear in the My Disney Experience app within minutes.

The Magic Shots, with characters or effects added, take up to 24 hours.

Taking the photos costs nothing. Downloading them costs money, one at a time or all together with Memory Maker. On our Dinner with Santa at the Cake Bake Shop, the PhotoPass photographer's pictures were in Melissa's app before the meal was over.

Which rides take PhotoPass photos?

Disney's attraction-photo page lists 14, as read on 13 September 2026. Its PhotoPass page says 15, so treat 14 as the list you can check.

• Magic Kingdom: Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, Tiana's Bayou Adventure and TRON Lightcycle / Run.
• EPCOT: Frozen Ever After, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Test Track.
• Hollywood Studios: Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Slinky Dog Dash and Tower of Terror.
• Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest.

Three also film you: TRON, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Tower of Terror. A ride photo reaches your account only if you carry a linked MagicBand, or a phone with the app and Bluetooth on. A smart watch does not work.

On TRON, Disney says to take your phone onto the ride in the small compartment rather than leave it in a locker. Tiana's Bayou Adventure closes for refurbishment from 2 November 2026, and Disney expects it back in December.

How much is Memory Maker?

On Disney's PhotoPass page as read on 13 September 2026:

• Memory Maker: $185 bought at least 3 days before your trip, $210 after that. It covers 30 days from the day it activates, but photos taken within 3 days of an advance purchase are not included.
• Memory Maker One Day: $85, for everything from 6:00am on your chosen day to 5:59am the next.
• Annual Passholders: a downloads add-on at $109 plus tax for the year.
• US military: eligible service members and their spouses can buy Memory Maker for $98 until 18 December 2026, at Walt Disney World ticket windows.

One Day was $75 until recently, and Theme Park Shark and Disney Tourist Blog still list that price. Disney's page says $85. Buying a single photo instead costs about $17 to $19; Disney's page sends you to DisneyPhotoPass.com without naming the price.

Two prices Disney publishes that almost nobody quotes

Serving U.S. military members get Memory Maker at $98, and Disney's page puts an end date on it: 18 December 2026. It has to be bought at Walt Disney World rather than in advance, which is the catch, but it is close to half the $185 advance price and it is the cheapest route to the full package that exists.

Eligible service members and their spouse qualify.

Separately, Capture Your Moment is a booked, private photo session with a PhotoPass photographer for $99, available at all four theme parks.

It is not part of Memory Maker and not a substitute for it — it buys you a set session rather than a day of roaming photographers — but for one good set of family pictures it undercuts Memory Maker outright, and you do not have to spend the trip hunting for photographers to justify the spend.

Both sit on Disney's own PhotoPass page. Neither shows up in most of the round-ups that quote the $185 and $210 figures.

Is Memory Maker worth it?

Above about 11 photos, yes. At $17 a picture, the break-even for the $185 package is 11, or 10 at $19.⁴ Memory Maker covers everyone linked to you in the app, up to 25 people, for one price. That makes party size the deciding number, not trip length.

Three generations on a week's trip pass 11 photos on the first day; two adults on a long weekend may never get there.

One planning site calls it a solid deal for a family of four doing several parks over a week.⁴ Disney Tourist Blog says the ride photos are the most fun part, and that for short trips or small parties the free service is enough: PhotoPass photographers will also take pictures on your own phone.

One Day at $85 fits one thing well, a single big park day with a large group.

Can you get ride photos without Memory Maker?

Yes, two other ways. Lightning Lane Multi Pass includes downloads of your ride photos and videos from the day you bought it, though not the photographers' pictures, according to Disney's attraction-photo page. Annual Passholders can add unlimited downloads for $109 a year.
