What order to do EPCOT in
Which rides are genuinely shorter if you get there for opening, which are no shorter at all, and which never need planning around — measured from our own five-minute queue record across 18 days, not produced by an algorithm.

At EPCOT, 4 rides are meaningfully shorter in the first two hours after 9am — Frozen Ever After by 18 minutes. 1 more stays long all day and getting there early does not help.
Do these first
Each of these averaged at least 10 minutes shorter in the park’s first two operating hours than in the middle of the day, on a queue that reached at least 25 minutes. Longest saving first, which is the order to ride them in if the walking allows.

Getting there early does not help these
These queues reached 25 minutes or more and were no shorter in the first two hours — several were longer. That is what happens when everybody is given the same advice and follows it. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind averaged 85 minutes in the middle of the day and 80 in the first two hours.
The practical reading is that a rope-drop plan built around these is spending its best hour badly. They are the strongest candidates for Lightning Lane, for single rider where it exists, or for the last hour before closing.
Outside sources measuring the same thing over far longer agree. Theme Park Shark reports over 90% of Animal Kingdom guests walking straight to Pandora at opening, and Flight of Passage averaging 107 minutes at 11am against 42 at 7pm across spring 2026.
TouringPlans reaches the same conclusion about Slinky Dog Dash from the other end of the day: the shortest queue is the one you join a minute before the park closes.Our 18 days point the same way, which is worth more than our 18 days alone.

Leave these for the last hour
In the hour before an ordinary night’s close, 3 rides were at least 10 minutes shorter than in the middle of the day. That is the hour to spend on them.
- Frozen Ever After — 46 minutes in the last hour, against 63 at midday.
- Remy's Ratatouille Adventure — 44 minutes in the last hour, against 58 at midday.
- Soarin' Across America — 20 minutes in the last hour, against 32 at midday.

Not this one: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (97 min) was longer in the last hour than at midday, so a late plan built around it backfires.
These never need planning around
Nothing here reached 25 minutes in the middle of the day across the whole window, so the time you ride them makes little difference. Fill gaps with them, and do not spend an early hour on one.

These posted no wait at all
6 entrances we track here returned a wait of zero on every single reading across the window: Awesome Planet, Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure Single Rider, SeaBase Aquarium, Test Track Presented by Chevrolet Single Rider. Walkthroughs and trails post no queue by design, so a zero there means the measurement does not apply rather than that the queue was empty.
The single rider entrances are the exception, and they may be the most useful thing on this page. Each posted zero on every reading while the standby queue for the same ride did not:
- Remy's Ratatouille Adventure — single rider 0 minutes against 58 minutes standby in the middle of the day.
A party willing to be split up walks on to some of the attractions where nothing else works. Riders are seated separately and it is not offered on every ride — the ride finder filters on it.
How this was worked out, and what it cannot tell you
The window is 18 days, 2026-09-05 to 2026-09-22, and 94,128 posted waits at EPCOT. That is a real measurement and a narrow one. It is one week of September; it is not a season, it contains no holiday week, and a table looks equally authoritative whether it rests on four days or four years. Treat it as what these queues did while we watched them.
“First two hours” means the park’s own first two operating hours — 9am across this window — taken from Disney’s published calendar, which we ingest twice a day. A fixed clock time would be wrong: the four parks did not open at the same hour.
“Middle of the day” runs from four hours after opening to two hours before closing, which is the stretch where a queue has finished building and has not started emptying. “Last hour” is the hour before each day’s own closing time, leaving out days that closed more than two hours early, such as Halloween party nights at Magic Kingdom.
A ride needs 200 readings and a figure in both windows before it appears. 1 we track at this park do not clear that yet: Impressions de France.
The number measures the queue, not whether the ride is a good idea at that hour. Kali River Rapids shows one of the largest savings at Animal Kingdom because almost nobody wants a soaking at opening — which is a fact about the queue and terrible advice about the morning. Read the difference column as information, not as an instruction.
These are posted waits, which is not the same thing as how long you stand there. Disney posts an estimate at the queue entrance and it is padded, by an amount that is not constant across the day. TouringPlans, who measure both, find posted times dipping mid-morning on Slinky Dog Dash while the actual line is still growing.
Everything here is what Disney posted, which is the number you can see and act on. It will overstate a short queue more than a long one. We do not measure actual waits and do not pretend to.
This is deliberately not a touring plan.
