Is it worth the money?

On the numbers, this is the better of the two Wilderness Lodge villas and the gap is not small. A Boulder Ridge studio is 356 square feet sleeping five at $561; a Copper Creek studio is 338 square feet sleeping four at $558. Three dollars a night for eighteen square feet and a fifth bed is not a trade-off, it is a mistake waiting to be made by anyone who assumes the newer wing must be the better buy.

What you give up is newness and range. The scheme is twenty-five years old and reads that way; there are no Grand Villas and no Cascade Cabins here.

Against the wider portfolio, the case is the Wilderness Lodge itself — the best-themed resort at Walt Disney World for a lot of people, a boat to Magic Kingdom, and Geyser Point. At $561 it undercuts every EPCOT-area villa by more than $75 a night, and the price of that is a resort with no walking route to anything.

Every room type, and who fits in it

Disney returns one room list for the whole property, covering Boulder Ridge Villas and Copper Creek Villas and Wilderness Lodge. It does not say which rooms belong to which, so neither do we. Straight from Disney’s own booking data, checked 2026-09-19. Occupancy excludes infants — Disney counts a baby in a cot separately, which is why a room that “sleeps 5” here can appear as 6 on their site.

Which room should you request?

A separate wing off the main lodge, reached under cover, and noticeably quieter than the atrium — which at the Wilderness Lodge matters, because the atrium is a destination in its own right and busy all day.

Transport is a boat to Magic Kingdom, which is one of the more pleasant approaches on property, and buses to everything else. There is no monorail and no walking route to any park. The lodge sits in woodland on Bay Lake with nothing else within walking distance, which is either the appeal or the objection.

What has changed recently?

It was the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge from 2000 until 2017, when Copper Creek opened in the main building and the original wing was renamed Boulder Ridge. That rename is the source of most of the confusion around this resort: older guides describing "the Villas at Wilderness Lodge" mean this building, not the newer one. Rooms were refurbished in the late 2010s; nothing structural has changed since.

The rooms have a kitchenette and a table, and the villa wing is quiet. Outside the room the lodge is unusually good for it: the atrium has real armchairs and fireplaces, Roaring Fork has long hours and seating, and Geyser Point has covered outdoor tables over the water. What it lacks is anywhere to go when you want a change of scene, because the resort is isolated by design and everything is a boat or a bus.

Why do two villa resorts share one building?

Boulder Ridge opened in 2000 as the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, in its own wing. In 2017 Disney added Copper Creek inside the main lodge and renamed the original wing Boulder Ridge. They share the lobby, the pools and the restaurants but are separate Disney Vacation Club resorts with separate points charts and separate cash rates.

How do you get to the parks from the Wilderness Lodge?

A boat to Magic Kingdom, and buses to everything else. There is no monorail, no Skyliner and no walking route to any park. The boat is a genuine pleasure and the buses are ordinary; if your trip is weighted towards EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, this is the wrong side of the property.

Do the studios really sleep five?

Yes — a queen, a queen-size pull-down or sleeper sofa, and a single pull-down. Configurations vary between rooms, so confirm at booking if it matters, and ask for the pull-down over the sleeper sofa. Copper Creek's studios sleep four, which is the most useful difference between the two.
