Disney World Solo Trip: where to stay, the six single rider lines, and eating alone without the awkwardness
The short answer
A solo Disney World trip works well: you set the pace, and six rides have single-rider lines that usually move faster than standby. The catches are cost and one app blind spot. Disney prices rooms per room, not per person, so one adult pays what two would, and the app never shows a single-rider wait.
Is Disney World a good place to go on your own?
The people who do it say yes, and the reasons are consistent. You ride what you want, eat when you are hungry, leave mid-afternoon or stay for the fireworks, and nobody has to agree. A DISboards member planning a first solo week in 2025 was drawn by that freedom and worried about one thing: eating alone.
On safety, the two solo guides we read, Disney Tourist Blog's and Planning the Mouse's, both rank Disney World among the safest places to be on your own. They are opinions from frequent visitors, not statistics, and ordinary sense still applies: keep your phone charged, because it is your ticket, your map and your ride reservations.
Which Disney World rides have a single rider line?
Six, in our attraction records checked against Disney's listings in September 2026. Magic Kingdom has none. Standby is the average posted wait while the single-rider line was open, from our record for 5 to 15 September:

Planning the Mouse, updated in May 2026, lists the same six. One planning site's solo guide, last updated in November 2024, lists four, without Remy's and Rise of the Resistance.6
How long is the single rider line?
You have to ask. Disney's wait feed carries a separate single-rider queue for all six rides but never posts a wait for it: every one of the 8,627 readings we took from 5 to 15 September said 0. The number in the app is the standby wait.
The cast member at the entrance knows the real one.
We found no published measurement of the saving, so treat claims about it as anecdote. Disney Tourist Blog's writer rode Expedition Everest three times in about 15 minutes through single rider. The trade is that you ride with strangers, in whatever seat is empty.
Where should you stay on a solo Disney World trip?
Disney hotel rates are per room, per night, for up to two adults, MouseSavers' 2026 charts say, so one adult pays the full price. A third adult adds $15 a night at Pop Century. From the lowest season, in our resort records from MouseSavers' 2026 rates:

The solo guides disagree on the best. Planning the Mouse picks Coronado Springs' Gran Destino Tower for its bars. One planning site likes Fort Wilderness for quiet walks.6 A DISboards member chose All-Star Sports because the room was only for sleeping.
How do you eat alone at Disney World?
At the bar. Every solo guide we read and a DISboards thread of more than 20 members say the same: lounges are the easiest place to eat alone, with no reservation and company if you want it. Our records list 38 lounges; the ones these sources name include Nomad Lounge, Steakhouse 71 Lounge, Space 220 Lounge, Tune-In Lounge, Dahlia Lounge and Ale & Compass Lounge.
Most of the DISboards posters had no trouble booking a table for one, though one had a server remark on it at the Plaza Restaurant. Disney Tourist Blog's advice is to tell the server you are in no rush, because solo diners get hurried, and to skip family-style meals, which are poor value for one. Our bars guide ranks the lounges.
What costs more when you travel alone?
Only the room. Tickets are priced per person: one day on the 2026 chart runs $126.74 to $222.59 with tax, whoever you are with.4 Lightning Lane is per person too, and a table for one costs one meal.
The room is the one bill you cannot split. All-Star Sports is $149 a night in its lowest season whether one adult sleeps there or two, so a couple pays half as much each. If the room is only for sleeping, as the DISboards member reasoned, a value resort keeps that bill small.
