Is it worth the money?

For the walk, yes, and there is no substitute for it. Being able to leave Magic Kingdom at ten in the evening and be in your room in ten minutes without a bus, a boat or a queue is worth real money on a park-heavy trip, and no other resort offers it.

For the studio, no. At $704 for 339 square feet with a foot of space beside the bed, when a Contemporary tower room is 394 square feet at similar money and sleeps five, the studio is the wrong booking in the right building. Your First Visit says so bluntly after measuring it, and that measurement is more persuasive than any photograph.

The honest recommendation: book a one-bedroom villa here if you can afford it, a Contemporary tower room if you cannot, and a studio only if the kitchenette specifically matters to you.

Every room type, and who fits in it

Disney returns one room list for the whole property, covering Bay Lake Tower and the Contemporary. It does not say which rooms belong to which, so neither do we. Straight from Disney’s own booking data, checked 2026-09-19. Occupancy excludes infants — Disney counts a baby in a cot separately, which is why a room that “sleeps 5” here can appear as 6 on their site.

Which room should you request?

A fifteen-storey curved tower of 295 units, C-shaped, standing beside the Contemporary and joined to it by an enclosed sky bridge. The Bay Cove pool sits inside the curve, which is the resort's main noise source — reviewers specifically recommend a higher floor to get above it.

The location is the entire product. The walk to Magic Kingdom is a little over half a mile on its own path, roughly the distance from Space Mountain to Big Thunder inside the park. The tower is also the first monorail stop coming back from Magic Kingdom and the first stop toward EPCOT from the Contemporary, so when the walk is unappealing the alternative is unusually good.

What has changed recently?

Top of the World Lounge reopened as A Villains Lair and, from 1 January 2026, Disney Vacation Club opened advance reservations for its complimentary fireworks viewing for the first time — up to 60 days out through Member Services, alongside the $55 Wicked Wind Down and same-day walk-ups. That is the single change most likely to affect a 2026 stay here, because the lounge was previously walk-up only and routinely full.

The studio is the problem: 339 square feet with very little clearance and no real desk. What rescues it is everything within two minutes — Contempo Café across the sky bridge is a genuine place to sit and work with power and a lake view, and the Contemporary's fourth-floor concourse has seating all day. The one-bedroom villas are a different proposition entirely, with a full kitchen, a washer-dryer and a separate living room. Wifi is good. Book a one-bedroom if the trip involves real work.

Common questions

Can you really walk to Magic Kingdom from Bay Lake Tower?

Yes, and it is the only Walt Disney World resort where you can. The path is a little over half a mile and takes under ten minutes — comparable to walking across Magic Kingdom itself. It is the resort's defining advantage, and it matters most at park close, when the monorail and ferry queues are at their worst and you simply walk past them.

Is the Bay Lake Tower studio too small?

Many reviewers think so. At 339 square feet with a sleeping area of roughly 185, Your First Visit measured about 12 inches between the bed and the wall and 16 between the bed and the sofa, and rates the studio "not recommended" — noting that a standard Contemporary room is 394 square feet at similar money and sleeps five. The one- and two-bedroom villas draw no such criticism.

Can anyone go to Top of the World Lounge?

No. It is limited to Disney Vacation Club members with Membership Extras and guests staying on a member's reservation, so renting points from a member usually will not get you in. From 1 January 2026 eligible members can reserve complimentary fireworks viewing up to 60 days ahead through Member Services; there is also a $55 Wicked Wind Down seating and same-day walk-ups asked for at the sixteenth-floor podium from 6pm.

Is the theme park view worth it?

It is about $945 against $704 for a resort view in low season, so roughly $240 a night to have the castle and the fireworks from your balcony. It is the second-largest view premium on property after Kidani's savanna. If your trip is Magic Kingdom-heavy and you will actually be in the room at 9pm, it is one of the better upgrades Disney sells. If you plan to be in the parks every evening, it is not.

Does Bay Lake Tower have its own restaurants?

Only Top of the World Lounge, which is members-only. Everything else is across the enclosed sky bridge at the Contemporary — California Grill, Steakhouse 71, Chef Mickey's and Contempo Café — which is a two-minute covered walk. In practice this is a strength rather than a gap: few villa resorts have a signature restaurant that close.
