The short answer
April at Walt Disney World averages a high of 84°F and tops 90°F on 9% of days. Some rain falls on 42% of days, but only 13% get a quarter inch or more.
Should you go to Walt Disney World in April?
A month of two halves, and the split is Easter. The week around it is historically the busiest non-Christmas period of the year; the fortnight after it is one of the best-kept quiet windows on the calendar, with the same warm weather and much shorter waits.
Because Easter moves between late March and late April, which half you get depends entirely on the year. April is the month where the same dates can be the best or worst decision you make, depending on a date that has nothing to do with Disney.

These are not crowd levels. We do not publish a crowd index, because we do not have the years of wait data an honest one needs. The label describes the strength of the demand drivers named in the last column — school holidays, race weekends, ticketed party nights and rate seasons — every one of which you can check against a calendar. Where a busyness ranking is another publication’s judgment, it is attributed to them by name.
How long the queues actually are in April
On Queue-Times’ crowd index, April now runs at 48.2%, which makes it the 4th busiest of the twelve months for queueing. Before 2020 the same month ran at 68.4% — 20 points higher.

This is queue length, not attendance. Crowd level is Queue-Times’ own index, built primarily from posted wait times, where 0% is the quietest day in their record since 2014 and 100% the busiest. Disney reported attendance up 3% in the quarter to June 2026 while average waits fell — reopened rides, new parades pulling people out of queues, longer hours and less Lightning Lane inventory all shorten a line without removing anyone from the park. A low number here means you will queue less. It does not mean the walkways will be empty.

What’s actually running in April
Flower & Garden runs the whole month, with the topiaries at their best and Garden Rocks concerts most evenings. Easter itself brings an egg hunt across the resorts and a heavier-than-usual character presence.
This is also when afternoon heat starts to show up. April is comfortably warm but not yet hot, though the last week begins to feel like the beginning of the Florida summer rather than the end of the spring.
Who April is right for
Anyone who can travel in the two weeks after Easter. That window has April weather, a festival in full swing, long park hours, and none of the spring-break demand — it is arguably the best fortnight in the first half of the year.
And who should pick another month
Anyone who has to travel over Easter itself and is sensitive to crowds or price. That week is peak on every axis at once, and unlike Christmas there is no compensating seasonal overlay to show for it.
The mistake people make booking April
Booking "late April" for the quiet and finding a late Easter sitting in it. Check the Easter date first and build the trip around it; in a year when Easter falls in the third week of April, the quiet fortnight moves into May.
