Walt Disney World in June
The short answer
June at Walt Disney World averages a high of 89°F and tops 90°F on 37% of days, among the three hottest months. Some rain falls on 87% of days, but only 40% get a quarter inch or more.
Should you go to Walt Disney World in June?
Summer arrives properly, and with it the two things that define a June trip: heat that tops 90°F on most days, and the afternoon thunderstorm pattern that runs from now until September. Neither ruins a trip. Both change how you have to plan one.
June is one of the more expensive months to stay on property, and it is no longer one of the busiest to queue in — summer stopped being peak season around 2016, and on the twelve-year record June now sits seventh of twelve. More districts break up as the month runs, so it builds; it builds from a lower base than it used to.
What you get is the longest park hours of the year and every water park, pool and evening show running at full strength.

These are not crowd levels. We do not publish a crowd index, because we do not have the years of wait data an honest one needs. The label describes the strength of the demand drivers named in the last column — school holidays, race weekends, ticketed party nights and rate seasons — every one of which you can check against a calendar. Where a busyness ranking is another publication’s judgment, it is attributed to them by name.
How long the queues actually are in June
On Queue-Times’ crowd index, June now runs at 41%, which makes it the 7th busiest of the twelve months for queueing. Before 2020 the same month ran at 71.2% — 30 points higher.

This is queue length, not attendance. Crowd level is Queue-Times’ own index, built primarily from posted wait times, where 0% is the quietest day in their record since 2014 and 100% the busiest. Disney reported attendance up 3% in the quarter to June 2026 while average waits fell — reopened rides, new parades pulling people out of queues, longer hours and less Lightning Lane inventory all shorten a line without removing anyone from the park. A low number here means you will queue less. It does not mean the walkways will be empty.

What’s actually running in June
Flower & Garden ends at the start of the month and there is then a genuine festival gap at EPCOT until Food & Wine opens in late August — the only stretch of the year with nothing running.
What June has instead is hours. Park closings are at their latest, evening shows run in real darkness, and the resort pools and water parks are at their most useful — which in June is not a luxury but the way you get through the afternoon.
Who June is right for
Families with no choice about when they travel, and anyone who will genuinely use the pools. If your plan involves a mid-afternoon swim and a late evening in the parks, June rewards it better than any other month.
And who should pick another month
Anyone who struggles in heat and humidity, and anyone unwilling to restructure the day around it. A June trip planned like a February trip — a full day in the park, no break — is the most common way people come home saying they hated it.
The mistake people make booking June
Underestimating the afternoon storms. They are near-daily from mid-June, they are usually short, and they close the outdoor coasters and the water parks while lightning is within range. The trap is treating a storm as a lost afternoon rather than planning the indoor attractions into it.
