Who it’s right for
Magic Kingdom-weighted trips, especially with young children who need an afternoon break — the monorail makes that a fifteen-minute round trip. Anyone who wants the Grand Floridian's dining without a hotel room's price. Families needing a kitchenette and a split bathroom, which the Deluxe Studio has and almost nothing else at this price does. And Disney Vacation Club members using points, where the cash comparison does not apply.
Who it’s wrong for
EPCOT, Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom-weighted trips, all of which mean a change or a bus. Anyone booking on value — this is the priciest studio on property and not the largest. Guests who assume the bigger Resort Studio is the better room, because it has no kitchenette and one bathroom. And anyone wanting a lively resort; the Grand Floridian is calm by design.
Is it worth the money?
Only if the monorail is the point. At $816 for a low-season studio this is the most expensive villa studio on property — $178 a night more than the Beach Club Villas, $331 more than Saratoga Springs — and the room you get for it is smaller than Old Key West's.
What the money buys is one monorail stop to Magic Kingdom, the best hotel dining at Walt Disney World, and the Grand Floridian itself, which is the flagship and behaves like it. On a Magic Kingdom trip with young children, being able to leave the park at two in the afternoon and be in a room in fifteen minutes is worth real money, and this is one of only three resorts that can do it.
On any other trip it is hard to justify. EPCOT needs a change of monorail; Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom are buses. If Magic Kingdom is not most of your week, the Beach Club Villas do more for less.

What the rooms are actually like
Two different products are sold as studios here and the difference decides the booking.
The Deluxe Studio is about 374 square feet in the Villas building: a queen, a Murphy bed that folds away in the day, and a pull-down sleeper, sleeping five. It has a proper kitchenette with a microwave, toaster, sink and fridge, and a split bathroom with a separate toilet, a walk-in shower and an outside sink.
The Resort Studio is about 440 square feet in Big Pine Key — former hotel rooms converted in 2022 — with two queen beds and a daybed that stays down. It is bigger, newer and closer to the monorail. It also has no kitchenette: a beverage cooler and a coffee maker, with no microwave, toaster or sink, and a single combined bathroom.
So the larger room is the more limited one. A firsthand comparison at Somewhere Worthwhile chose the smaller Deluxe Studio anyway, on the grounds that with children "room layout matters far more than aesthetics" — the split bathroom lets one adult settle a child while another gets ready, and the kitchenette handles breakfast.

Every room type, and who fits in it
Disney returns one room list for the whole property, covering the Villas at the Grand Floridian and the Grand Floridian. It does not say which rooms belong to which, so neither do we. Straight from Disney’s own booking data, checked 2026-09-19. Occupancy excludes infants — Disney counts a baby in a cot separately, which is why a room that “sleeps 5” here can appear as 6 on their site.

Which room should you request?
The Villas building sits at the far end of the Grand Floridian grounds, along the lagoon towards the Polynesian, and is quiet. Big Pine Key, which holds the resort studios, is closer in to the main building and the monorail station.
Everything here runs on the resort monorail: one stop to Magic Kingdom, or a boat, or a walk of about fifteen minutes along the path past the Polynesian. EPCOT is a monorail with a change at the Transportation and Ticket Center. Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom are buses.

What has changed recently?
The Big Pine Key building was converted from hotel rooms into 200 resort studios in 2022, roughly tripling the number of studios sold here and introducing the two-tier studio split that now confuses most bookings. The original Villas building opened in 2013. Nothing structural has changed since the conversion; what has moved is price, and at $816 for a low-season studio this is now the most expensive studio at Walt Disney World.
Working from here
excellent
The best on property for it, and the reasons are all outside the room. Gasparilla Island Grill is open 24 hours with seating and power. The main building's second-floor lobby has real armchairs, live piano in the afternoon and no reason to move you on. The Deluxe Studio has a kitchenette and a split bathroom, which is what lets two people keep different hours in one room. Book the Deluxe Studio, not the Resort Studio, if you are working — the Resort Studio has no sink and nowhere sensible to put a laptop.

What the premium buys is one monorail stop to Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian's dining. Whether that is worth it depends almost entirely on how much of your trip is Magic Kingdom.
- Can you walk to Magic Kingdom from the Grand Floridian?
- Yes, in about fifteen minutes along a lakeside path, and it is a genuinely pleasant walk. Most guests take the monorail, which is one stop, or the boat. Having three options is unusual; only the Contemporary, Bay Lake Tower and the Polynesian are comparable for Magic Kingdom access.
- Which building are the villas in?
- Two. The original Villas building from 2013 holds the Deluxe Studios and the one- and two-bedroom villas, at the far end of the grounds towards the Polynesian. Big Pine Key, converted from hotel rooms in 2022, holds 200 Resort Studios and sits closer to the main building and the monorail station.
- Do villa guests get the Grand Floridian's restaurants?
- Yes, all of them — Victoria & Albert's, Cítricos, Narcoossee's, 1900 Park Fare, Grand Floridian Cafe and the 24-hour Gasparilla Island Grill. It is the strongest hotel dining line-up on property, and for a studio guest without a full kitchen the 24-hour counter service is more useful than it sounds.
