Disney Springs: what it is, what it costs, and when to go

You do not need a ticket, and parking is free

Free entry is the fact that changes trips, and the one most visitors do not know.

Disney Springs charges no admission, requires no park reservation, and parks you free in three garages — Orange, Lime and Grapefruit — plus surface lots named Watermelon, Strawberry and Mango. There is no validation and no time limit.

Nothing else at Walt Disney World works like this. A theme park costs a ticket and $35 to park.

Disney Springs costs nothing to enter and nothing to leave your car at, which makes it the default answer to four situations: your arrival afternoon before check-in, a rain day, a day you did not buy a ticket for, and dinner when you are staying off property.

One restriction to know if you are a collector: from 2 June 2026, the garages, surface lots and rideshare loops do not open before 7am on special merchandise event days, including the weekly Tuesday pin releases. Anyone arriving earlier is turned away and asked to come back.

That is reported by Deep Arrival and we have not been able to confirm it from Disney directly, so treat it as a caution rather than a rule if you are planning a very early arrival.

The four neighbourhoods, and which one you actually want

Disney Springs runs along the water in four connected districts. Knowing which is which decides where you park.

Marketplace and West Side are the two ends and are a genuine walk apart — roughly a quarter of an hour end to end at a normal pace by our own reckoning, longer with children. Park at the end you want.

The Orange garage lands you nearest Town Center and Marketplace; Grapefruit has a pedestrian bridge and is the better choice when Orange backs up at dinner time.

Getting there without a car

Buses run from every Disney resort hotel, starting when Disney Springs opens and continuing until an hour after it closes — later than any park bus, which is the point on an evening out.

Boats run on the Sassagoula River from Saratoga Springs, Old Key West and both Port Orleans resorts. It is slower than the bus and considerably more pleasant, and it is one of the few boat routes at Walt Disney World that goes somewhere useful rather than just across a lake.

The seven Disney Springs Resort Area hotels on Hotel Plaza Boulevard walk here in a few minutes, as does the Congress Park section of Saratoga Springs. If walking to dinner matters, those are the addresses that do it.

There is no Disney transport between Disney Springs and the theme parks. You cannot bus here from Magic Kingdom directly — you go via a resort. That catches people out at the end of a park day.

What to eat

Disney Springs has more than 60 restaurants, which is more than any single theme park, and several of them are the best food on Walt Disney World property. We have pages on more than 40 of them, each priced from Disney's own menu.

Every place Disney lists there is on one page, cheapest first, and from August to November there is a Halloween menu at 26 of them.

• For a big dinner: The BOATHOUSE for steak and seafood on the water, STK Steakhouse, Morimoto Asia, Jaleo by José Andrés for Spanish tapas and paella, and Paddlefish on its paddleboat.
• Mid-priced sit-down: Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' for fried chicken, House of Blues, Raglan Road for Irish food and live music, Frontera Cocina, Wine Bar George and Maria & Enzo's.
• Counter service: D-Luxe Burger, The Polite Pig, eet by Maneet Chauhan, Chicken Guy! and Earl of Sandwich.
• Sweets: Gideon's Bakehouse for almost-half-pound cookies at $7, if you can face the virtual queue, Vivoli il Gelato, Amorette's Patisserie, Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew and Swirls on the Water for Dole Whip.

Because no park ticket is needed, these are also the easiest good reservations at Walt Disney World to arrange late — the 60-day competition that empties Magic Kingdom's tables applies much less here.

What there is to do besides shop and eat

Enough to fill an evening, and most of it costs money separately.

Cirque du Soleil's Drawn to Life at The Landing is the headline — a full Cirque show built around Disney animation, and the only production of its kind on property.

The Aerophile balloon on the West Side is a tethered helium balloon that rises 400 feet for a view over the whole resort, at $29.99 an adult and $24.99 a child aged 3 to 9.

Vintage Amphicar tours at The Landing put you in a 1960s convertible that drives down a ramp into the lake — 20 minutes, $125 for the car rather than per person, which makes it reasonable for four and expensive for two.

Level99, open since 29 June 2026 on the West Side, is an arcade of physical and puzzle challenge rooms for teams, with dozens of rooms across two floors and a bar and kitchen inside.

Tickets are timed, from $29.99 a player for 1.5 hours and $39.99 for 2.5, and the price rises on busier days and times.¹¹ Level99 recommends it for ages 11 and up; children 10 and under must play alongside an adult.¹²

AMC Disney Springs 24 is a full dine-in cinema, and Splitsville is two floors of bowling with a proper kitchen. Both are genuinely useful on a rain day when the parks are miserable and you have already bought the ponchos.

When to go, and when not to

Go in the late afternoon and stay for dinner — and leave more margin than feels necessary. Disney tells anyone with a dining reservation, show or event to arrive at least one hour early, and to allow up to two hours during holidays and peak periods.

That is the clearest published measure of the arrival crush there is: Disney is telling you the car park, not the kitchen, is what will make you late.

The quietest hours are before noon on a weekday, when most shops are open and most restaurants are not busy. That is the window for shopping, and the window nobody uses. It has a floor, though — the garages do not open until 9am on a regular day, so there is no arriving at eight to beat anybody.

Merchandise event days run to a different clock. On those — every Tuesday for new pin releases among them — the garages and rideshare loops open at 7am instead, and Disney will not let vehicles queue before that time at all. Arrive earlier than 7am and you are sent away to come back.

A rain day is the one to avoid if you can, which is counterintuitive advice, and it is our judgement rather than a published figure. Everybody else has the same idea, the covered walkways fill, and restaurants that would have seated a walk-up are suddenly quoting waits.

A rain day at Disney Springs is better than a rain day in a park and worse than almost anything else.
